A Sweet Turn of Events 2023

Overview
The 2023 Valentine’s Day event, A Sweet Turn of Events, lasted from February 12th through March 12th. During the event, players explored the enchanted board game world of Candyland and completed various activities and games.
Storyline
Near the Great Hall in Hogsworth, players first talked to Kevin, who sent them to Tristmoor to meet Prim Katan. At The Victory Point shop, Prim explained that she had been working on a new concept in the game lab, which were enchanted and immersive board games. Prim’s latest game, Candyland, had run into a few issues. After inviting a group of players to test the game, the entire group has been pulled into and trapped inside the board game. The player needed to enter the game's world to save all of those who were trapped, especially their loved one, whilst playing Candyland along the way.
Location
Taking place inside the enchanted game of Candyland, the area was a sugar-filled, colourful town with a tile path winding through the world. There were five different sections that players would find themselves in as they progressed through the game: Tootsie Town, Candy Cane Forest, Affogato Alpines, Frosted Food Fairgrounds, and the Gumdrop Forest.
Quests
Your Turn to Roll
As an introductory quest for this event, players travelled to The Victory Point shop in Tristmoor to meet with Prim Katan. Once there, and after being directed upstairs, Prim explained how the trial group for Candyland had been trapped inside the board game. After using the Enchanted Dice, the player also found themselves inside Candyland. A stranger, Carmella Glico, greeted the player upon entry. Unfortunately, Carmella’s hatred of outsiders causes her to attack the player with Gummy Bear soldiers. After defeating Carmella, the player was directed to Mayor Cadbury to learn how to traverse the world and thus stop Carmella and rescue the others.
Devious Deliciousness
After progressing through the board-game-like system and once at the Gumdrop Castle, the player had to defeat Carmella for a final time and save their special someone. Once the player defeated Carmella, they were able to escape from Candyland and return to Prim Katan, letting them know the trial group had been saved.
Side Quests
There were no side quests for this event.
Activities
Candyland Progression
The player had to traverse through the different areas of Candyland by playing the board game. Each tile required a specific activity to be completed to progress, including collecting candy cane nodes, killing mobs, or completing minigames.
Dot’s Delivery Dash!
After becoming overwhelmed with the orders she received for her business, Dot S. needed the player's help to deliver all of the gumdrop packages to the correct customers at their houses in Tootsie Town.
Sugar Rush
In the Candy Cane Forest, Cassie Caine was hosting a race in which the player could play alone or against others. The reward given was dependent on how fast the player completed the course.
Fudge, Bubblegum, Lolly!
In Tootsie Town, Andy Floss devised a game similar to Rock, Paper, Scissors, but with Fudge, Bubblegum, and Lolly instead. Beating Andy at the game would advance the player’s pawn one space, with the first to move three spaces winning.
Chocolate Melt
Reese Ferrero needed help finding chocolate pieces scattered around the fudge volcano in the Affogato Alpines. Players would need to parkour and collect as many as they could within the time limit without falling from the melting chocolate squares.
Candy Cane Climb
Within the Candy Cane Forest, players had to bounce their way to the top of a giant candy cane tree by stepping on branches. They had to be careful of brittle branches, as they would break upon being bounced on.
Confection Corrections
Cinna M. Roll needed help fixing rides in the Frosted Food Fairgrounds. Cinna would call out problems that needed to be fixed and the player had to use ingredients found in the shed to help fix the issue.
Sundaeman
Players needed to help Cherry Anne in Affogato Alpines with testing out her new game that required them to guess a secret word. To guess the word, players needed to guess letters, with each wrong letter slightly melting the Sundaeman nearby.
Cupid’s Arrow
Madeline Roshen needed help gathering candy hearts for the Valentine's Day festivities in the Frosted Food Fairgrounds. Players had to shoot as many candy hearts as they could within the time limit to capture the hearts.
Minigames
There were nine different minigames that players could access through an NPC in the event. Each of these games gave players Event Tokens, which they could then trade for rewards.

Daily Taskboard
Throughout the event, players could complete tasks on the Daily Taskboard to claim additional Event Tokens and a small amount of Experience. The Daily Taskboard reset every day at midnight Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Contests
For this event, players were able to enter a giveaway hosted by the WizNetworker team. Players had until February 28th at 11:59 PM PST to submit, and winners were announced at the beginning of March. Unlike most giveaways, players had to comment something nice about another player on the giveaway forum post. By doing so, players were entered to win the Valentine’s Housing Scenery, the Red Wizard Hat, or the Heart Staff cosmetic wand appearance, as well as 200 House points and 100 Potter Points.
Rewards & Collectables
The table below lists rewards obtained through the Collectables NPC and Exclusives NPC in Tootsie Town. Through the Valentine's Gear Lootbag item, players could obtain exclusive event gear as well. Moreover, by repeating specific activities 10 times, unique collectables were given.
