Overview
Alberto the Wise, also known as Edgebrook’s “Well Man”, can be found in the well of Edgebrook. With a beard that extends to his waist, the old man often helps residents of the town retrieve items that have disappeared into the well.
From a young age, Alberto was bubbly and friendly, always willing to help his community. However, his life took a turn when he was eight. His great-grandmother gave him a valuable heirloom and his mother swiftly impressed into him that he could not lose it. A week later, Alberto was walking near his local town’s well when he had a confrontation with a wild dog. This caused him to lose his grip on the heirloom, resulting in it falling to the bottom of the well. With no one around to help him, the heirloom was lost forever. This devastated him and led him to a life of solitude.
When he grew older, he made his way to the bottom of Edgebrook’s well and set up a small home. While still enjoying his lonely life, he still helps people find lost items and will occasionally organise scavenger hunts.
Alberto the Wise is an NPC encountered during the fourth year quest Stars in the Dark. He is located in a small house inside of the well that Iona’s necklace fell down. When encountered, he asks for help with researching the mysterious Blue Crystals found in the cave. He sends players to the local Shady Dealer's shop in order to gather materials for a Research Kit.
After crafting the kit, players then study the Blue Crystals and share their findings with Alberto. He has a theory that the crystals are vulnerable to fire, which requires testing on a Giant Blue Crystal. After doing so, Alberto reveals that he has been holding onto Iona’s necklace.
