Cherry Blossom Festivals at Mahounoshiro 2023

Overview

The Cherry Blossom Festivals at Mahounoshiro took place from April 1st through April 19th, 2023. During this event, players celebrated the festival throughout the school and in a nearby park.

Storyline

Hogsworth students had been invited back to the magical Japanese school of Mahounoshiro to take part in the Cherry Blossom Festivals. Students were encouraged to explore the school and take in the blooming cherry blossoms in the area.

Location

Located above the volcanic island of South Iwo Jima, Manounoshiro has been teaching Japanese wizards for centuries. Previously, Hogsworth students had seen the school decked out for Yuletide in the 2020 Winter Waltz event. On this visit, however, the cherry blossoms were in full view and spring was in session. Players were also able to explore the nearby park and its surrounding shops.

Quests

There was only one main quest called Spring at Mahounoshiro. During this quest, players explored Mahounoshiro to learn more about the event.

Spring at Mahounoshiro

This quest started the event for players. After speaking to Kevin in the Great Hall, players were teleported to Mahounoshiro and tasked to find the Information NPC to learn about the event. Players would then talk to Zenia, a visitor who had hidden eggs throughout the area. Finally, players then met Kevin in the nearby park where they were encouraged to explore and have fun.

Side Quests

The side quests for this event could be completed every 12 hours. Each one rewarded Event Tokens and a specific colour of eggs: Blue, Green, Yellow, or Pink. How many eggs a player received was proportional to how well the player did on the quest.

Doggie Daycare Matchmaker

At the Dog Shelter, Daisuke gave the player a list of people in the school and park who would make good dog owners. With one dog a day able to be adopted, players had to reference the information book to learn about the different dogs’ personalities. The player then had to find an NPC who fit the criteria listed in the book to make the perfect match. The three breeds available for adoption were Huskies, Goldies, and German Shepards and there were nine dogs in total able to be matched up.

Puppy Jail Break

The puppies at the Dog Shelter escaped their playpen and scattered their toys throughout the attached courtyard. Players had to find the correct items and bring them to Akiro within the time limit.

A Perfect Picnic

Local resident Etsuko needed help making food for those visiting the park. After choosing a recipe, players had to run around the area, snatching food off of picnic blankets, and making as many of the recipes as possible.

An Eggs-hausting Situation

A visitor to the area, Juliana had wanted to peacefully paint some eggs under the cherry blossom trees. Unfortunately, some rabbits decided to steal her decorated eggs and hide them around the park. The player had limited time to search the park for the missing eggs.

Speedy Soft Serve

Aspen, the owner of the local ice cream shop, needed the player’s help serving ice cream to customers. Players had a limited amount of time to serve a variety of flavours: Vanilla, Chocolate, Matcha, and Cherry Blossom.

Activities

Egg Hunt

This repeatable activity had players searching the event for eggs every 12 hours. Eggs could be found in Mahounoshiro and the nearby Cherry Blossom Park. Playing minigames also rewarded eggs. Players could turn in their eggs for rewards by speaking to the Zenia NPC.
