Overview
Professor Thatcher sent an owl to players by mistake. After receiving her owl from the mailbox outside Hogsworth’s Great Hall, she asked players for help in searching for a missing student. This is the first quest in the Echoes of the Past storyline.
Quest Progression
Upon clicking the shining mailbox outside the Great Hall, players realised that they had received a mysterious paper airplane. When they opened the airplane, they discovered a message that was mistakenly meant for the faculty.
Dialogue
(Professor Thatcher’s Note)
Concern about E. Serrano
From: E. Thatcher
To: Faculty Members
Emery Serrano, a third-year student from Honeybadger, has not been seen in the last couple of hours. One of their friends, Cassandra Rossignol, has just warned me that they were missing from their last two classes. We should send out patrols to search for them.
Sincerely, Professor Thatcher.
Objective 1 - Find the Divination Professor
Description
Professor Thatcher, the Divination Professor, has sent an owl to you by mistake, but it looks like she needs your help. Find her in her classroom at the top of the Divination Tower.
Dialogue
Professor Thatcher
- [1/4] Hi? Why aren’t you in class? What do you mean you received a letter from me?
- [2/4] I must have gotten the sending spell wrong again... I'm not very good with magic, you see. I'm more interested in divination than any other form of magic.
- [3/4] If you want to help, of course you can. Maybe you can join Cassandra? She is Emery's best friend. She said she was going to check out most of the usual places where they hang out.
- [4/4] I believe she mentioned the Raven Tower and a study hall. Maybe it's worth a try to check the Raven Tower's study halls? I suggest talking to the Prefect outside my class, and go to the Viaduct Entrance, I'll enchant the path so you can find it more easily!
Objective 2 - Check the Study Hall
Description
Professor Thatcher talked about Cassandra, Emery's best friend. Maybe she can find them faster than the prefects. Cassandra was heading towards a study hall in the Raven Tower. The Professor suggested to warp to the Viaduct Entrance and follow the path she enchanted.
Dialogue
(Emery’s Letter)
Find me at our usual spot in the tents
at 4:30pm after your Potions Class.
We can practice some Quabbleball throws.
Talk to you soon. E.
Objective 3 - Check near the Quabbleball Pitch
Description
The note you found in the study hall mentioned going to practice at the Quabbleball Pitch. Check it out!
Dialogue
Quabbleball Player
- [1/2] Have I seen Cassandra? Yeah, she just came by a few minutes ago!
- [2/2] She was mumbling something about going back to the Boathouse? Maybe you’ll have more luck there?
Objective 4 - Find Cassandra
Description
Look for Cassandra outside the Boathouse to see if she has found Emery.
Dialogue
Cassandra
- [1/4] Oh my god, you scared me! Are you looking for Emery, too? That's wonderful news! I have not found them yet...
- [2/4] I have checked all of our usual spots. Except maybe… Oh no, I hate going in there without them! Cassandra looks at you with a pensive glance.
- [3/4] Would you be willing to check the Room of Hidden Things? I don't like going in there... It's dark and everything looks like it's about to fall on you.
- [4/4] It's unfortunately Emery's favourite place in the castle ever since they found it earlier this year...
Objective 5 - Find Emery
Description
The Quabbleball Player told you Cassandra was talking about going to the Boathouse. You should take a look.
Dialogue
(Sparkling Crate)
Deep within a room of chaos,
A book shimmers with levitating magic
From a time of pranksters and laughter.
Objective 6 -Talk to Emery
Description
Cassandra thinks Emery might be in the Room of Hidden Things. She gave you [1 Emery's Rememberball] to help you find them in that mess.
Dialogue
Emery
You find Emery humming to themself, but they get startled when they see you.
- [1/5] Oh hello! You scared me! I didn’t see you there.
- [2/5] How did you get here? Are you also a reader?
- [3/5] That is so cool, there aren’t many of us out there! Look at what I just found out I could do!
- [4/5] The Unmagicals call it Parkour and it’s a sort of game where you jump from one platform to the next!
- [5/5] I’ve put an item at the end to get a reward. Do you want to try? If not, that’s okay, too!
Objective 7 - Complete the Parkour
Description
Emery asked if you wanted to have a go at the parkour and you said [yes/no]. You are free to leave at any time to join them at the Boathouse.
Dialogue
Emery (If the player does the parkour)
- [1/3] Wow! That was so nice! You’re a natural at Parkour! Here’s 1 Gold!
- [2/3] Soon, you'll be able to unlock more Echoes around the map! I have altered some already. They will transport you to more Parkours, but you might also find some that look like Mazes.
- [3/3] For now, let's get out of here. I need to let Professor Thatcher know that I'm okay. Meet me at the Boathouse, I'll tell you more about Echoes!
Emery (If the player doesn’t do the parkour)
- [1/3] You're all good, Parkour is not for everyone! But look at you, you were able to unlock this echo!
- [2/3] You'll be able to unlock more Echoes! I have altered some already around the map that will transport you to more Parkours, but you might also find some that look like Mazes.
- [3/3] For now, let's get out of here. I need to let Professor Thatcher know that I'm okay. Meet me at the Boathouse, I'll tell you more about Echoes!
Objective 8 - Find Emery at the Boathouse
Description
You've made it out of the memory. Find Emery at the Boathouse so they can explain a bit more about Echoes.
Dialogue
Emery
- [1/3] Hello again, (player’s name)! Professor Thatcher was relieved to see me and I got a bit of a lecture, but all is good.
- [2/3] You want to learn more about Echoes? You seem pretty attuned to them.
- [3/3] Echoes are objects filled with the remnant energy from the owner's memories, dreams, or nightmares. What you'll need to look out for are objects that slightly shimmer. Like my bag right here.
Emery (continuation)
- [1/4] The cool thing is, you even got Memory Fragments! As I've said before, they're quite handy when trying to tinker with Echoes. They serve as currency with me and my dads.
- [2/4] Are you ready to set out into the world and look for more Echoes? Be sure to check in with me from time to time. I always have fun stuff to share and rewards to claim!
- [3/4] You can come back to my Bag to check what maps you have unlocked and even teleport to them from here. I even came up with a few things to personalise your experience, but I'll let you browse through to discover.
- [4/4] For the time being, I'm going to go study for my Potions Class. I did miss today's class. Have fun! Be sure to come and say hello!
Tips
- If you are having trouble navigating the castle, you can always talk to the Prefect NPCs for help.
- The Study Hall near the Raven Tower is on the first floor of the tower. Head down the steps to the first floor and look for a sparkling note on the table.
- If you are not able to complete the parkour, choose the option of skipping the parkour option with Emery and you will still be able to unlock the Flying Tables parkour to move on with the quest.
- In the Room of Hidden Things, which is near the Griffin Common Room, use the Rememberball that is given to you by Cassandra.
