Overview
Events are special occasions on the server where new gameplay is temporarily added for players to enjoy. During each event, there are a variety of things that players can participate in. This includes quests, side-quests, and activities. Players are also often able to purchase rewards with Event Tokens. At the event build, there is an informative NPC, usually named Kevin, who provides players with details about the event.
Currently, the Game Designer team is responsible for creating all the events that are held on the server. Prior to the Game Designer team's formation, events were made by Magiventologists. This team was created in July 2020 and had been in charge of the events up until mid-2022. However, events themselves have been a long-running tradition since the server’s creation in 2014 and over 60 unique events have been held. Usually, events centre around time periods and holidays, such as Winter, Valentine’s, and Halloween. There are also events revolving around in-game holidays, such as the Butterbrew Festival and the Anniversary events.
Content
Quests
Quests are tasks given out to players, with most event quests following the overarching event storyline. These event quests are different from normal world quests, as event quests expire after the event's end.
Side Quests
Side-quests are quests given outside of the main storyline and are often repeatable every 12 hours for Event Tokens.
Activities
Activities are various non-quest actions that players can complete. This can encompass a variety of things, such as games, collecting nodes, parkours, and mazes.
Collectables & Rewards
Players can receive or purchase a multitude of different items during events. While not every item is offered during every event, collectables, banners, and heads are typically included. Occasionally other rewards such as wand appearances, hats, pets, and emotes can be purchased. These are usually not available from the online store, so they can only be obtained from the event. Every event through 2023 & 2024 rewarded players with a collectable token, which was sold for only a small amount of Event Tokens. This token was coloured in a colour relevant to the theme of the event and all tokens can be stored throughout the year in the Event Token Pouch, as a display of the events a player has attended.
