Overview

Welcome to the PotterworldMC wiki editing guide! We're excited to see your contributions.

Please use the guide below when creating your page. There are a lot of pages on our wiki already, so feel free to use the edit menu of existing pages to view their formatting and copy a similar style (e.g. you can refer to existing quest pages when making a new page or edit). Thank you for your work towards developing the wiki!

Page Requirements & Advice

To ensure that all of our wiki pages are easily accessible, all pages should include the following:

• An infobox or imagebox using the relevant template. Review the template pages for how to use them, and select an image from the library. Want a new image? Submit a suggestion for our Scribe team to request one from the Arithmancers.
• A category should be added using "[[Category: Name]]". You can find a list of all available categories here.
• The page should be flagged as player-made to highlight your hard work! This can be done using "{{Playermade}}".

Writing Style

All information pages should be written clearly, using a formal tone instead of opinionated writing. Informative articles should be easy to follow and to-the-point, and wiki formatting should be followed throughout (as detailed below). Any guides should also be clearly and formally written, though they may be more directly instructive than a standard page. All pages should use British English for spelling and grammar since the server is predominantly set in the United Kingdom.

Protected Pages

Some high traffic pages and templates are protected from edits to prevent spam or vandalism. As a result, these pages will have a "view source" option in place of the usual "edit" button.

Using Tables

Tables must also be created using wikitext, using the notation show below. If you would like to generate the wikitext automatically, we have a PotterworldMC Wikitext Table Generator available.

Templates & Banners

We have a number of custom-made templates on our wiki, each used for a different purpose. The main ones available for use can be seen below. Click on the template name to view each template, and for a guide on how to use it.

Template	Description
Quote	Insert a quote or extract into your page and reference the author.
Construction	Mark a page as incomplete or under construction if you would like to come back to it later.
Spoiler	Mark a page as a spoiler and explain what content or update it may disclose spoilers for.
Player-made	Mark a page as player-made to show off your hard work on the wiki.
