Derek Witlock needs the player’s help figuring out who Jane Doe is at Merlin’s Magical Hospital.

Quest Progression

To start this quest, players must have completed the quest A Puzzling Patient. Players must then check the mailbox at Hogsworth to begin.

After a long wait, it appears as though Jane Doe woke up yesterday! I wrote this letter to you as fast as I could. When you read this, please come back to Merlin's Magical Hospital. You know where I usually am.

Objective 1 - Speak to Derek Witlock

Description

It appears that one Jane Doe has finally awoken! Derek Witlock requests your presence back at Merlin's Magical Hospital. Check out his message in the mailbox in the Hogsworth courtyard, and then go see Derek on the Fourth Floor of Merlin's Magical Hospital.

• [2/5] Jane Doe has finally woken up, which is a very good thing for many reasons.
  
• [3/5] I tried talking to her earlier, and I mentioned how a student, you, was helping me with this.
• [4/5] She didn't want to give me any information, but she said she wanted to talk to you alone.
• Derek's face flashes a look of annoyance.
• [5/5] Jane Doe is in Consultation Room #402 if you want to speak to her.

Objective 2 - Go Find Jane Doe

Description

Jane Doe has requested to speak to you in private. Derek said she can be found in Consultation Room #402.

• [1/4] Who is he- Oh. Hello, I'm sorry dear! Ye gave me a fright.
• [2/4] My name is... erm... Sorry, what have the hospital workers called me again? ..."Jane?" Hmph.
• [3/4] Well, I suppose the cat is out of the bag that I have a different name... On that note, what is thine name?
• [4/4] [player’s name]? Well, [player’s name], I could really use a bit of help... If ye promise to not tell another soul, I shall tell thee my story.<be>

Jane Doe (after not agreeing to keep the secret)

• [1/4] Well then, sweetie, I... cannot tell thee anything.
• Jane Doe crosses her arms.
• [2/4] I cannot tell ye who I am or what I know without a promise.
• [3/4] However, that isn't to say I can sit here and not do anything!
• [4/4] Though ye do not know my story, please try to convince the doctor to let me leave. I would appreciate the effort. Tell him I feel wonderful, alright?

Matilda (after agreeing to keep the secret)

• [1/6] Oh thank ye. Thank ye truly, dear.
• Jane Doe nervously checks that the door is shut.
• [2/6] My name is Matilda... A long, long time ago, three men existed named Geoffrey, Alistair, and Alexandrus Sherwood. Geoffrey was their father and Lord of Woodshire.
• [3/6] Alistair took over after his father. Over time, he grew paranoid and suspicious of the outside world. Because of this, he cast a powerful curse on Woodshire and the inhabitants therein! This curse trapped the citizens of Woodshire, no one could enter or leave...
• [4/6] This was on top of his father's charm that caused any Unmagical who tried to enter Woodshire to appear on the other end of the town, completely disoriented.
• [5/6] I... think years and years passed, dear, but a few months ago, there was a disturbance. I found a newly opened passage in the castle, Fort Aureus, and escaped. I came looking for help, but I passed out from exhaustion.
• [6/6] Please... I need thine help to break the curse of Woodshire. Help me save the people there... Ye can start by convincing the doctor to let me leave. Tell him I feel wonderful, alright?

Objective 3 - Speak to Derek Witlock

Description

Matilda/Jane Doe has asked for your help returning home! You should ask Derek Witlock if Matilda/Jane Doe can be discharged.

• [1/4] Ah! Welcome back, welcome back. Did Jane Doe tell you anything?
• [2/4] Only that she feels wonderful and is ready to leave? You'd watch her?
• Derek's face has a look of confusion.
• [3/4] Erm, I must break it to you [player’s name], but that is not how it works here.
• [4/4] Jane Doe must stay hospitalised until medical personnel deem her safe to be discharged. She cannot leave the hospital, alone or with you. It's for the best you leave the hospital, as I can't trust you to leave Jane Doe here.<be>

Objective 4 - Return to Matilda/Jane Doe

Description

Derek Witlock said "Jane Doe" cannot be discharged at all, as she still needs hospitalisation! You should tell Matilda the bad news.

Matilda/Jane Doe

• [1/5] Did the doctor grant me permission to leave?
• [2/5] No? Well, that simply will not do. One does not simply tell this lady no to leaving!
• [3/5] I overheard the doctors talking earlier. One of the co-workers, Dr. Hawthorn, left things here last night and didn't come in for work today.
• [4/5] There should be [1 Doctor's Coat] in Dr. Hawthorn's office on the 3rd Floor that ye can wear. Ye'll also need to wear [1 Surgical Mask] from a supply closet next to their office. Lastly, there should be [1 Doctor's ID Card] in a drawer at the front desk.
• [5/5] Would ye be so kind as to grab them, then convince the doctor I can leave?<be>

Objective 5 - Disguise Yourself

Description

Time to put the plan in action. You'll need to find three items to be able to leave the hospital. Find [1 Doctor's Coat] from Dr. Hawthorn's Office on the 3rd floor and put it on. You'll also need to wear [1 Surgical Mask] from a supply closet near the office. Lastly, find [1 Doctor's ID Card] from the Reception Desk.

• [1/4] I do not know what you believe you are trying to do at this hospital.
• [2/4] Impersonating a doctor is not allowed. I assume that was your intention given the items you're in possession of.
• [3/4] I should be telling Dr. Hawthorn about this situation.
• [4/4] I've confiscated the items off of you and put them back in their rightful spots. Do not try anything funny, understand?
  

Objective 6 -Investigate the Hill

Description

There is a new doctor in the building! Now that you look like a doctor with [1 Doctor's Coat], [1 Surgical Mask], and [1 Doctor's ID Card], you should speak to Derek Witlock about how you, as a professional, believe the patient is fit to leave the hospital.

• [1/3] Dr. Hawthorn? Hm, you look slightly different... Must be the incident you said you were dealing with. I didn't expect you to come to work today! Good timing, too.
• [2/3] The head of surgery in your department needs a surgeon urgently to help with a patient.
• [3/3] I'll tell him I am sending you in. You should get to the surgical table immediately! Operating Room One, First Floor, on the East Side. Isn't it a beautiful day to save lives?

Objective 7 - Go Into Surgery

Description

It seems as though the doctor uniform was too believable, and now you have to help provide surgery to Elisa Labelle! Complete the surgery in the surgeon's room, located on the First floor, on the east side. Make sure you keep [1 Doctor's ID Card] while wearing [1 Doctor's Coat] and [1 Surgical Mask] to keep up the act!

• [1/5] Dr. Hawthorn, always a pleasure to see you at the hospital. I needed you so urgently because I hurt my hand on the way to work today.
• [2/5] I know that incident you're dealing with probably winded you, but this surgery I have for you is a simple one. You get to take it easy, so don't worry.
• [3/5] Just a big cut on the leg. It's practically first-aid!
• [4/5] Go ahead and grab [1 Pair of Gloves] and [1 Set of Surgeon Tools] from the cabinet.
• [5/5] After that, speak to the patient, Elisa Labelle, and get started! I'll supervise since I have no other surgeries planned for today. Provide the [1 Surgery Paperwork] to me when you are done.

Elisa Labelle

• [1/3] H...hi...
• [2/3] Are you the surgeon...?
• [3/3] I guess I trust you... Thank you, Dr. Hawthorn. I'm ready.
• Elisa lays down on the operating table to prepare for surgery.

Basil Loxely (after completing the surgery)

• [1/2] Ah! You are done with the surgery. I will take the [1 Surgery Paperwork] off of you.

Objective 8 - Speak to Matilda 

Description

Now that you've concluded the operation, you should find Matilda. Show her [1 Doctor's ID Card] while wearing [1 Doctor's Coat] and [1 Surgical Mask].

• [1/3] Ah, Dr. Hawthorn..... ye look the part. The disguise looks great!
• [2/3] While ye were... doing what it was ye were doing...? I snooped around the hospital.
• [3/3] I re-found the secret passage I used to arrive to this hospital in the first place. We should go now to the Morgue in the basement before the doctors realise ye are still here!

Objective 9 - Enter the Tunnel

Description

Enter the Woodshire Castle to explore and find out what has gone on inside ever since it was forgotten by the town.

Dialogue

Matilda

• [1/6] Here is the tunnel. I really appreciate ye thus far, [player’s name]... When Alistair took over after his father passed, this became necessary.
• [2/6] No one could leave the town due to his paranoia, and... I... well. The townsfolk rebelled.
• [3/6] I agreed to help them as it was the right thing to do. My friend, Martinus, hid us and... Sorry. I don't think I can tell thee much more yet. I am not ready.
• [4/6] The tunnel, right. Apologies. I got side tracked. Since ye have been so helpful and loyal thus far, I will tell you what I remember.
• [5/6] There is a four-digit rune code of which I have forgotten. The four tunnel areas hold one part each. I remember dodging... plants? I believe? Or an animal... There was also something about quick thinking with walls and a secret digit somewhere hidden well...
• [6/6] I am not ready to venture back through this, and I am feeling quite exhausted in my age and with all that has happened. Use what I told ye, and we will get out just fine.

• [1/6] The tunnel. I did not miss this location. I appreciate that ye have helped me get here, though you did not promise me anything in return.
• [2/6] Since there is none around to tell now and ye have earned a smidge of trust, I shall give thee a small portion of who I am now that we have gotten here.
• [3/6] My name is Matilda from Woodshire. In Woodshire, there are three men: Lord Geoffrey and his two sons Alistair and Alexandrus. Alistair is the oldest who took over after his father passed.
• [4/6] Over time, Alistair grew paranoid and suspicious of the outside world. He cursed Woodshire so no one could enter or leave the town on top of his father's charm which caused Unmagicals to be expelled to the other side of town confused.
• [5/6] This caused the townsfolk to suffer inside, and they decided to rebel. I... assisted, and my friend Martinus Moore hid us. Eventually, I found a secret tunnel out after... years and years of searching,
• [6/6] That is where we are now. I know ye can get us out of here. I'd help, yet I find that I cannot remember much from all that has happened and hitting my head on the way in. All I know is there is a 4-digit code needed for us to leave.<be>

Objective 10 - Escape Merlin’s Magical Hospital

Description

The tunnel has to lead to Woodshire. You and Matilda should escape before the doctors realise she is gone.

Objective 11 - Speak to Matilda

Description

Woodshire! It's real! You should speak to Matilda on the outskirts of the town and make sure she's okay.

• [1/5] We made it! This is... my paradise, in a way. It has its troubles but…
• Matilda spins in a circle excitedly.
• [2/5] Ah, forget what I rambled about. Oh my goodness, ye are amazing. I suppose... I should admit to ye a big secret.
• [3/5] This was so important to me as I am the Lady of Sherwood. Matilda Sherwood. The people I mentioned are my family and those to watch over and care for...
• [4/5] If ye are up to it, [player’s name], I could really use some more help, but I'll let thy mind think on that before dragging thee along once more.
