Overview
The Kearpon are a Level 54 aggressive mob that resides in their isolated cave by the sea. There are currently no quests that require the player to defeat Kearpon.
First spotted in 1920, there was little information known about the Kearpon for many years until Enrico Venezia, a scientist, decided to study it. He travelled to the English Channel in hopes of finding and researching the Kearpon. Unfortunately, he was unaware of the Kearpon’s hostile nature. When Enrico navigated his boat close to one, the Kearpon immediately felt threatened and bared its teeth to the scientist. There is little information about what happened to Enrico Venezia, but it was later discovered that another person followed him to the English Channel, with their account of the encounter causing Kearpon to be labelled dangerous and untamable.
Not everyone agreed with this consensus, however. A student named Elaine Woods wanted to change the public’s perception of the creature and spent many hours researching and caring for the Kearpon. Elaine would eventually go on to release a book on how to care for the Kearpon, successfully changing many people’s understanding of the creature. Her “How to Care” guide, released in 1942 encouraged people to stop fearing the Kearpon as intensely as they did before.
Nowadays, witches and wizards know how to care for the fearsome Kearpon. We now even know that they have natural cleaning agent in their skin, removing the need to clean the creatures. When first meeting the Kearpon, one must bow towards them, in order to show respect. Otherwise, their aggressive behavior, which manifests when a wizard is rude to them, is likely to be triggered.
Behaviour & Defence
The Kearpon is an aggressive mob, quick to attack anyone who wanders nearby. They diet is mainly made up of meat and fish, though they are capable of ingesting other foods if needed. The Kearpon have a total of 1877 HP and the player will need decent gear before attempting to defeat one of these beasts.
The Kearpon’s melee attack deals the player 375 damage, a decent amount for a Sixth Year to take. The creature also has two additional abilities: a missile attack and an AOE attack. When deploying its missile attack, Water Spike, dark blue particles surround the creature. A quick jet of blue and water particles then suddenly streams out from the Kearpon before hitting the player, doing 460 damage. The Kearpon’s AOE attack, Aqua Geyser, causes three rings of blue and water particles to form near the Kearpon before causing those in the area to take 678 damage.
Habitat
Kearpon can be found north of the town of Woodshire, on the eastern coast of the world map. Living in a Mesa biome, they can flourish in the dry climate by primarily congregating around a large lake. Most often found on the dry land surrounding the lake, they are also frequently in the lake itself or in the nearby caves. With a rocky terrain and few trees scattered around, very little plant life can be found near the Kearpon’s spawn.
Defeat
As a Level 54 mob, the Kearpon have the chance of dropping Level 51-60 broom materials such as Silver Footholds, Yew Handle, Wool Wraps, and Vine Bristles. There is also a rare chance of Kearpon dropping Lvl 51-60 Gear Pieces, along with Broom Recipes. They can also drop Kearpon-exclusive drops such as Kearpon Tooth, Kearpon Foot, and Kearpon Gills.
