Fine Arts Fair 2016

Overview

On August 14th, Potterworld released the 2016 Fine Arts Fair. This event was held in a beautifully made, art-themed valley and involved several live events that celebrated the many forms of creative self-expression. The collectables were no different and modelled themselves on the fantastic theme, including skills in cooking, writing, music, and more!

Storyline

There was not a special storyline for the 2016 Fine Arts Fair event.

Location

The event took place in a massive valley, filled in every corner with odes to the beautiful art that players so often have created on Potterworld. There were NPC’s selling stories coming straight from the students themselves. In several corners, there was original artwork hanging up, as well as a special platform made for the writing competition winners to be displayed. On the extreme ends of the valley, there was a gigantic stage, complete with the classic tragedy and comedy masks hanging above it, for the thespians to put on their plays, as well as a gigantic record player for students to run across while they practised their Ocarina. Several gigantic instruments littered the area, and a gigantic artist towered above the rest, a portrait hanging behind him.

Quests

There were no main storyline quests during this event.

Side Quests

There were no side quests during this event.

Activities

The activities involved several forms of artistry, including traditional and digital art, instrumental music, singing, and dancing! Players were able to participate in the festival through so many forms of creative self-expression.

Cavern of Art

There was a beautiful cavern created especially to show off the various art pieces in a museum-like fashion. Players were able to walk through and observe the work of several of their fellow students.

Live Ocarina Lesson

On the 15th of August, the Head of Griffin at the time, TJoo, taught a live Ocarina Lesson! Players were able to simply listen to the dulcet tones of their classmates ranging from professional to practising.

Live Karaoke Event

August 16th, there was a live Karaoke event held over Team Speak by _Emxly and _Rin. Players were able to show off their vocal talents to the entire rest of the student body!

Live Dance Class

Finally, on the 18th of August, Darkatspock hosted a dance class. During the class, she taught players a special dance made especially for the festival. Players were able to invite their fellow students and dance the festival away with their partners.

Contests

There were two special contests for players to participate in during the Fine Arts Festival of 2016.

Writing Competition

To celebrate the Fine Arts Festival, a writing competition with three winners in three categories was held: Horror, Romance, and Fables. In the end, there were 9 winners in this competition, and the grand prize winners got to have their work featured in the event!

Poetry Competition

There was another, separate competition for poetry writers as well. This competition had three categories: Personal, Free Verse, and Haiku. There were also three winners per category for this event, resulting in 9 players receiving prizes for their contributions to the Fine Arts Festival.
