Valentine's Day 2017

Overview

The Valentine’s Day event was hosted in celebration of Valentine’s Day in 2017. The event was based around roleplay, and players were encouraged to attend the event with a special someone or a friend. This event featured activities players could partake in to obtain exclusive rewards. The Valentine’s Day Event ended on the 20th of February, 2017.

Storyline

There was no overarching storyline for this event.

Location

Players could access the event by clicking on the Valentine’s NPC located in the Great Hall. The main event took place in a fairytale-inspired town that was overlooked by a large castle. Market stalls surrounded the town’s centre where players could purchase an array of items.

There were no main storyline quests for this event.

Side Quests

There were no side quests for this event.

Activities

There were three different activities that players could complete and participate in during this event.

Emotes Hunt

There were five special emotes and an exclusive spell called ‘Amor Vita’ hidden around the event for players to find.

Fortune Telling

Players could have their fortunes told by staff members. The Fortune Telling activity had a special schedule which players could view in front of the Crystal Ball.

Scarf Scavenger Hunt

Players could partake in a scavenger hunt to find an exclusive scarf. The first clue was found in the courtyard by the castle. Players then had to solve seven riddles that led to different locations around the event until they found the scarf. Upon visiting each riddle location, players would receive a token and, by collecting all the tokens, could redeem the scarf at the end of the hunt.

Contests

There were three contests that players could partake in during these events. Winners received special rewards.

Instagram Competition

Players could post an Instagram picture of them attending the Valentine’s Day event on Potterworld. The competition was open from the 12th of February to the 20th of February. Staff then picked the top three winners on the 20th of February.

Creative Writing Competition

Players could write and submit a creative writing piece inspired by Valentine’s Day. There were three categories: Love Letter, Poetry, and Romantic Fairy Tale. The top three winners from each category received special rewards.

Heart Staff Giveaway

The Potterwatch team hosted a giveaway in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Players were able to partake in this giveaway to receive the Heart Staff wand appearance. To enter the giveaway, players had to subscribe to the Potterworld Youtube channel and comment below their Minecraft Username and a response to the question, ‘What do you like to do on Valentine’s Day?’. The winner was announced on the 15th of February through a video uploaded onto the Potterworld YouTube channel.

Rewards & Collectables

There were various exclusive rewards that players could obtain and purchase during this event. These were able to be bought from the stalls located around the town courtyard or through completing the event activities.
