Valentine's Day 2019

Overview

The 2019 Valentine’s event took place from February 9th until March 8th and players had a variety of activities they could do to celebrate the holiday.

Storyline

Players had to help a house-elf named Blinky with various issues that he usually caused.

Location

The majority of the event took place in the Great Hall Courtyard, which was decorated for the event. There were pink and red banners, along with large roses throughout the Courtyard. Stands, where players could purchase rewards, were also found here, and there was a festive photo booth where students could take pictures.

Quests

Blinky's Blissful Brew

Blinky needed help brewing a love potion to talk to the house-elf that lived in the Kitchens. The player needed to get ingredients for the potion from the Advanced Potions classroom in the Dungeons. When in the classroom, players had to get on top of a shelf, which would transport them into the potions shelf, where they had to complete a parkour to get the ingredients and recipe. After returning to Blinky, it is revealed that the player had to break into the Love Chamber in the Ministry and obtain water from the Love Fountain. In the Ministry, the player ran into a Security Guard who told them that the Love Chamber is off-limits to non-Unspeakables and that the player had to sneak in through the sewers. Once they got the water from the Love Fountain, they could then finish the love potion and give it to Blinky.

Mistaken Relations

Blinky had accidentally paired up Piper and Felix with a love potion. In doing so, Blinky messed up two happy couples, Piper and Finn, and Harper and Felix. The player was then tasked with helping the couples and was sent to talk to Finn and Harper. When talking to them, Finn and Harper needed the player’s help in finding what potion Blinky had used. To do so, the player had to take a warp key to travel to the House Elves’ sleeping quarters. Unable to find the potion, the player gave them a drink found in the quarters, which Finn and Harper drank. They then asked the player to grow flowers and ask Blinky if his potion smelled like any of them. After growing the flowers, the player had to find Blinky in the Library. Blinky did not recognise any of the flowers, but Finn and Harper were content getting to know each other a bit more.

Goblin Queen of Hearts

Blinky noticed that the Goblin Queen didn’t have anyone to spend Valentine’s day with, so he gave her a potion to make her fall in love with the player. The other goblins were not happy about it as they believed their queen and a human should not be together, so they took her away. Blinky then asked the player to help him save her. The player had to find a cave in the Wilderness where the Goblin Queen was hidden. The Goblin Gatekeeper was guarding the entrance and requested that the player find and bring them the hidden goblin cold. The player then needed to obtain the Captivating Crown at Rapunzel’s Tower and give it to the Gatekeeper as well. Finally, the Goblin Gatekeeper wanted the player to defeat the reigning Butterbrew Drinking Champion, Tuc. Doing so gave the player the Tantalizing Trophy, which could then be given to the Gatekeeper. After this, the Gatekeeper let the player into the cave where parkour was needed to be completed and then the player had to avoid Goblins in order to get to the Queen. After speaking to the Goblin Queen, the player had to kill 9 waves of Goblins. Once the Goblins have been defeated, the player then had to find the key in the throne room. The Goblin Queen was released from her prison and the player could then go talk to Blinky.

Dead Love

A guy named Frank drank a love potion that Blinky gave him and proceeded to fall in love with a dead person. Blinky asked the player for help in fixing the issue and told them to look at the Howler that Frank left. The Howler hinted to the player that the colours blue, red, and green are important before giving the player a riddle to solve. The riddle was “What can incite love but also incite just as much hate?” and the correct answer was ‘Cupid’s Bow’. After solving the riddle, the Howler revealed that Frank had mentioned the Wizarding Bank earlier. The player then had to travel to Grimlotts and take a magical cart into the bank vaults. Inside one of the vaults, the player had to take the correctly coloured path to find Frank. The player then had to do a dropper in order to speak to Frank once again. After this, the player then fought Frank to bring him back to his senses.

Hunt For Cupid

Blinky’s Love Potion has been causing trouble, so he asked the players to help find Cupid and fix it using the Love Radar. In order to build a Love Radar, the player had to go to the Restricted Section of the Library to find a book that had the list of ingredients. The Love Radar showed that Cupid was in the Ministry, where the player had to complete a course using Spell Tomes to get the Cubes of Moonstone.

Love's Philosophy

The player had to collect clues in order to make their way into the Love Chamber, as Blinky still needed help finding Cupid. Droobledore had also spoken to the Unspeakables to allow the player to avoid trouble when searching for Cupid.

The Search for Love

Blinky and the player were finally able to get inside the Love Chamber in order to find Cupid. Once the player found Cupid, they gave the player the Cupid’s Bow to help fix lovesick students at Hogsworth. After curing the students, the player had to return the bow back to Cupid.

Side Quests

There were no side quests in the event.

Activities

Love Letters

There were a series of Love Letters located around the map which players were able to collect and give to an NPC named Jequavis to receive a reward. There was a one-hour cooldown on this activity.

Minigames

There were only two minigames that players could participate and play during this event.
