Overview
The 2017 Winter Waltz event started on December 13 and lasted until February 1st of 2018. Every day at 12PM PST, 2 new quests were unlocked that players could do. These quests were able to be completed again every 24 hours.
Storyline
There was no overarching storyline for this event.
Location
The event was held at Hogsworth, and the entire castle was decorated to be festive. There were Christmas trees and large candy canes scattered around the Great Hall. Snow covered Hogsworth, and holiday decorations could be found around the school, signalling the winter season.
Quests
There were fifty different quests released throughout this event that players could complete.
Festive Phantoms
Unlocked on Day 1, a Holiday Ghost needed help from players to host his own ball.
Candygrams
Unlocked on Day 1, Eira needed help from players to deliver Candygrams.
Pixie Pranks
Unlocked on Day 2, players helped Terry hide from Fletcher to avoid getting detention.
Decorating Christmas Trees
Unlocked on Day 2, the Hogsworth Christmas Tree specialist, Jeff, had trees that were almost fully grown, but a few 1st years messed with his ornaments. His ornaments and star were spread around the Greenhouses, and players helped Jeff get them back to decorate the trees.
Home for the Holidays
Unlocked on Day 3, players had to get the train up and running to help Alea go home for the holidays.
Winter is Coming
Unlocked on Day 3, players had to help Eddard by killing 20 winter mobs.
Fun, but Freezing
Unlocked on Day 4, Megan needed some warm clothes after she was caught out in the cold during a picnic.
Pesky Pixie Problems
Unlocked on Day 4, Pixie had stolen some of Carrie’s ornaments, and players helped to get them back.
Winter Waltz Wish
Unlocked on Day 5, players needed to help Mary find a date to the Winter Waltz.
Brightest Star
Unlocked on Day 5, Sara needed help to remember what the star was in the big Christmas story.
Gifts for the Injured
Unlocked on Day 6, the players helped Madam Lillian get some treats for students in the Hospital Wing.
The Nightmare before Christmas
Unlocked on Day 6, Jack needed the players’ help to find some of his lost gifts for the Honeybadgers.
The Holiday Production
Unlocked on Day 7, Malec needed help putting on a Holiday Production.
Festive Delights
Unlocked on Day 7, players helped Regina Mills collect apples for her family.

Unlocked on Day 8, players helped Bryan get his friend into the Christmas spirit.

Unlocked on Day 8, Freya needed the players' help keeping everyone warm.

Unlocked on Day 13, Cranberry the Elf needed the players’ help getting ready for Christmas.

Unlocked on Day 14, Ivy needed help with sick students in the Hospital Wing.

Unlocked on Day 14, players helped Nora with her Cocoa recipe.
Tis the Season for the Caretaker
Unlocked on Day 15, Arianne got the players’ help to get Fletcher some Christmas presents.
Tampered Punch
Unlocked on Day 15, players helped brew Christmas Punch for Hoody the House Elf.
Headmaster's Final Touches
Unlocked on Day 16, Droobledore wanted to add a few finishing touches to the Christmas decor around the castle. Players helped him collect items to finish decorating.
Festive Dares
Unlocked on Day 16, players had to help find Lauren after Abby dared her to go into the Dark Forest to find mistletoe.
Honeysweets Brew
Unlocked on Day 17, Tara needed help getting ingredients for Honeysweets’ signature festive brew.
A Missing Stocking
Unlocked on Day 17, Marissa lost a stocking in the courtyard. Players helped search the courtyard and Owlery to find it.
Chilly Challenges
Unlocked on Day 18, players needed to find Seth so that he and Charlie could duel.
Secret Santa Struggles
Unlocked on Day 18, Rilla had to get Esrie a present for Secret Santa. Players had to help figure out what Esrie would want for Christmas by talking to her best friend.
Runaway Wand
Unlocked on Day 19, Jamie tripped while throwing his wand around, and it slid away on the ice-covered lake. Players needed to help him get his wand back.
Holiday Spirit
Unlocked on Day 19, The Holiday Spirit was haunting the Transfiguration Courtyard all of December, and players needed to help Ivory figure out what the spirit really was.
Ice Fishing
Unlocked on Day 20, players helped Geoffrey fish after he had been having poor luck.
Festive Phobias
Unlocked on Day 20, Jana’s gift was stolen by a ghost, and players had to help her get it back.
Holiday Gift Exchange
Unlocked on Day 21, Perry Pinkleton was assigned the Grounds Keeper for Hogsworth’s annual gift exchange. Not knowing much about him, the players needed to help her find a gift.
Christmas List
Unlocked on Day 21, Flavie had run out of time to buy Christmas gifts for others and gave the player a list of what gifts she needed to get. Players had to help her before it was too late.
Snowball Fight
Unlocked on Day 22, players helped Esther get more snowballs so she could beat Griffin in a snowball fight.
Gingerbread Catwalk Special
Unlocked on Day 22, Patty Cakes cake shop needed the players’ help selling some leftover festive cakes.
Gift Grabbing
Unlocked on Day 23, players helped Holly collect Christmas gifts for her friend.
Attack of the Living Gift
Unlocked on Day 23, the Magiscientist needed the players’ help discovering the identity of a mysterious plant that looked like a holiday present.
Snowball Wars
Unlocked on Day 24, Carson wanted to win the huge snowball fight in the Transfiguration Courtyard, but they had the worst aim. Players had to help them by bringing them enchanted snowballs to use.

Unlocked on Day 24, an Auralock disappeared in Wizendale, and players needed to determine if the Dark Lord was returning.
Dung Bomb Delivery
Unlocked on Day 25, players’ helped Blaire get away with pranking the Honeybadgers by filling their presents with Dung Bombs.
Replacement Elf
Unlocked on Day 25, players needed to help Chef Nick get supplies from the Mystic Market after his helpers disappeared.

Activities
New Year’s Sledding Tournament
A tournament was held where players competed on a sledding course in honour of the New Year.
Holiday House Points Competition
For this competition, there was an NPC placed in the Great Courtyard called “Holiday House Points Contest” that sold three different heads for each house. The contest started on December 5th and ended on December 25th, when the number of heads sold would be tallied. Houses would then get House points depending on the number sold.
Games
There were three seasonal games that could be accessed through /games. These games were:

- Sledding
- Wand Spleef.
Minigames
There were four minigames available for players to enjoy during the event.

Contests
Housing Competition
There was a housing competition held for this event called the Hogsworth Holiday Housing Competition. For the contest, there were two categories, with three winners in each category. The first theme was Holiday/Christmas, and the second theme was Winter Wonderland. The winners were decided on a stream hosted on December 30th.
Writing Competition
There was also the Daily Diviner Holiday Writing Competition where players could submit a writing piece up to 1000 words. The theme of the contest was ‘A Holiday Miracle’, and those who won would get a pet from the PotterworldMC store and be featured in the Daily Diviner.
