Winter Waltz in Brazil 2021

Overview
The annual Winter Waltz event took place in Brazil in 2021. Students were able to visit the Brazilian school, Castelomagia, from December 11th until January 8th.
Storyline
The headmistress of Castelomagia, Headmistress Sampaio, invited Hogsworth students to celebrate the holidays with the students and professors of the school. Around the school, students could help and interact with various people, along with being able to purchase a variety of rewards.
Location
This Winter Waltz took place in the Brazilian School of Magic, Castelomagia. Players were transported to Brazil through the Kevin NPC in the Great Hall and were taken on a boat journey through the forest to reach the castle. Once there, players were greeted with a stunning yellow castle in the shape of a stepped pyramid. The castle and its surroundings were overwhelmingly green, with flora and fauna flourishing in the area.
Quests
There were nine main quests that could be completed by players at Castelomagia. Upon completing each quest, players were rewarded with ‘Snowflakes’. Snowflakes were an event-only currency and could be earned through completing quests and activities. They could be used to purchase rewards.
A Tropical Winter Waltz
This was the quest that players would complete when they first arrived at Castelomagia, after being given the quest by the Kevin NPC in the Hogsworth Great Hall. Players had to speak to Headmistress Sampaio and go to each of the four Castelomagia dorm rooms to learn about the houses. Once they returned to the Headmistress, they then got sorted into one of the four houses, either Animália, Estória, Primavera, or Aurólia. This determined which house they would stay with for the duration of the Winter Waltz along with what bracelet the players were given.
Aviary Adventure Part 1
Players began this questline by speaking to Juliana, who let them know that the Art Professor needed help. After finding the Art Professor, they had to look over the feather collection where it was discovered that they were short on blue, red, and yellow feathers. Players were then sent to the Magical Creature Studies professor, Professor Ramos, in the Aviary to find out why. Professor Ramos asked players to search around the forest to find clues and it was figured out that a native species of cat, the Toleco, might have been preying on Conucko birds.
Aviary Adventure Part 2
Before beginning this quest, players had to gather enough Conucko eggs and turn them in. Once they did this, Professor Ramos requested their help by taking care of an egg that was close to hatching. Players could then choose one of three different variants of Conucko: Fogo, Raio, or Gelo. The egg needed to be looked after at three caring stations: a warning station, a music station, and a polishing station. When attempting to return the hatched Conucko to Professor Ramos, it is revealed that the bird became attached to the player. Professor Ramos allowed the player to hold on to the Conucko for a bit while continuing to take care of it.
Aviary Adventure Part 3
When they spoke to Professor Ramos again, he told players that they should teach their Conucko some tricks out in the forest. After collecting a Rubber Ball, players then had to talk to Pedro Fonseca to train their Conucko. Then, players had to scare off some Tolecos that were threatening the Conucko eggs.
Aviary Adventure Part 4
Professor Ramos told players that the Tolecos were getting more aggressive when hunting the Conuckos and sent players in search of a cave. Once players found the cave, they had to go through a maze to find the pack of Tolecos, which were revealed to not be aggressive. When players returned to Professor Ramos with that information, he became confused as he believed all Tolecos were naturally aggressive.
Aviary Adventure Part 5
When returning to Professor Ramos, he told players that he believed the Tolecos’ odd behaviour was due to the influx of Hogsworth students. He also suspiciously told students not to try to find any more information in his classroom about Toleco. Players then investigated his classroom, using the other creatures in the room to help get into Professor Ramos’ office. Once they got inside his office, players figured out that Professor Ramos was the one charming Tolecos and when players tried to confront him, they could no longer find him in the Aviary.
Aviary Adventure Part 6
The player went to Pedro Fonseca to tell him that Professor Ramos was the one charming the Tolecos and Pedro advised the player to check out the Toleco cave for clues. In the cave, the player found Professor Ramos’ notes that revealed that he used the ancient runes to broadcast a charm on the Tolecos. Players then had to go to the ancient runes and solve a puzzle to break the charm. After they broke the charm, Pedro instructed the player to find Professor Ramos, using a Conucko to help guide the player. After crossing an unstable bridge, the player found Professor Ramos. When the player talked to them, Professor Ramos explained that he only wanted to make the Tolecos take the eggs so he could sell them and have funds for his classes. Then, the player was able to make the traditional Castelomagia Conuck Wreath that the Art Professor had asked about, and Professor Ramos left a Conucko under the care of the player.
Holiday Crisis
Headmistress Sampaio invited Hogsworth students to take part in the festivities, including leaving a sock on the window sill for Papai Noel to leave a gift in. After doing so, the player went to sleep and woke up with an empty sock. This revealed that not a single student got a present and the Headmistress sent the player to Giselle, a famous curse-breaker, to help figure out what happened. Giselle sent the player into the jungle to look for clues, but the clues did not bring them closer to figuring out what happened. Giselle then sent the player to the Ancient Runes beneath the school that the player had to navigate. At the end of the complicated maze, the player came across Papai Noel, who was placed under a curse and who they would have to defeat.
Christmas Craze
When the player came across Alandra, she was setting things up for the Winter Waltz dance and requested help from the player. After accepting, Alandra gave the player a list of tasks, the first of which was putting Christmas lights up around the common room. Players then had to help Gabriel put a star on top of the tree in Castelomagia’s Great Hall. Then Derrick, a house-elf, sent them to Julia, who needed help freezing the river. Finally, the player needed to wrap four presents and deliver them to those on the Secret Amigo List.
Side Quests
Three side quests could be completed during this event. They were repeatable and each had a 12-hour cooldown.
Egg Care
At the Aviary, Alzira would give players an egg to care for. To care for the eggs, players would use the care stations seen in the Aviary Adventure Part 2 quest, meaning the quest needed to be completed before this side quest was unlocked.
Is This a Snowman?
Players could speak to Neo and choose whether to make a snowman or a sandman. They would have to get the materials, either snow or sand, an accessory, and two twigs in order to make their snowman or sandman.
The 12 Days of Christmas
Neve the house-elf's love gave him a present for each of the twelve days of Christmas, but to find the gifts, riddles needed to be solved. Players could return to Neve to get a new riddle that could be anywhere in the event build or in associated minigames.
Activities
Egg Collection
Once the player had completed the Aviary Adventure Part 1 quest, they could collect Conucko eggs through a variety of means. There were 20 egg nodes found around Castelomagia that players could collect every 12 hours. Additionally, they could get eggs through side quests and minigames.
Star Gazing
At the top of Castelomagia, there was a large telescope that players could stargaze through. This included memorising the locations of stars they saw and then repeating the pattern. If they repeated it correctly, they would get an Estrela that could be used to purchase rewards from the Advent Calendar.
Minigames
There were thirteen minigames that could be played during this event. Minigames from the previous Winter Waltz events were brought back during this event. By completing the minigames, players could earn ‘Snowflakes’.

There were also 3 games players could play in /games. Playing them rewarded ‘Snowflakes’. These included:

- Sledding
- Wand Spleef
Daily Taskboard
For the event, players had the option to complete a unique set of six Daily Challenges off the Taskboard. These challenges involved participating in minigames and games, and they provided additional Event Tokens upon collection. At midnight Pacific Standard Time (PST), the Taskboard was reset and was able to be completed once more.

Contests
Alongside the event, an art competition and a writing competition was announced. Three winners were chosen for each competition and they would have the choice of winning the Holiday Reindeer Antlers, North Pole Staff, or Snowflake Staff, along with House points and Potter Points. The art competition’s prompt was to create a winter or holiday-inspired art piece. The writing competition had competitors focus on writing about an activity that they normally do during the winter or one that they would like to do.

Winter Waltz Choco Hop Collectable Cards
Upon completion of every quest and side quest, players received one Winter Waltz Exclusive Choco-Hop Card. There were 24 cards to be collected. Once players collected all 24 cards, they were able to unlock the ‘Winter Waltz 2021 Collectable Card’.

Store Releases
At the beginning of December, the Frostbitten store releases came out. This included new store items, such as:

- Water Staff
Old seasonal releases also came back temporarily, which included Holiday Reindeer Antlers, Pet Reindeer, Pet Baby Polar Bear, Mistletoe Staff, Mistletoe Crown, Christmas Tree Broom, Snow Beanie, the North Pole Staff, Winter Village Scenery, the Snowflake Staff, Holiday Emotes, and Holiday Emotes 2.
Halfway through the month, there was an additional batch of store items released with a rainforest theme. These new store items included:

- Pet Fire Conucko
- Pet Lightning Conucko
- Rainforest Scenery
Additionally, a Holiday Sale was announced that gave 30% off all store items, excluding the new releases.
