Overview

The Game Designer team is a branch of the Game Design department. This team oversees many aspects of gameplay on the server. They are in charge of creating server events (eg. Christmas, Valentine’s Day), and utilise Potterworld’s tech and their creativity to design events that are highly immersive and interactive. The team also creates on-world gameplay, such as the world quests around the map. Furthermore, the team manages Potterworld's key systems and balancing, including magic balancing, professions, and gear.


Requirements
  • You must have been at least 16 years old.
    • If you are between 13 years old and 16 years old and not a Staff member, you must first apply using the bypass application instead.
  • Being able to use Discord with a microphone and being comfortable speaking to others was recommended.
  • Must have had use of your own personal Gmail account.
  • If you were a staff member, you must have had permission to apply from the Head of your Primary Department.
  • You must have been a level 60 on the server.
  • A clean record on Potterworld was recommended.


Responsibilities
  • Create and work on world content and events for the server as part of the Game Design team.
  • Actively communicate with Game Design Leadership, project leads, and project team members.
  • Able to meet deadlines and have the ability to commit to and finish a project.
  • Work with other staff and non-staff members to make content for the server.
  • Attend meetings, offer ideas and suggestions, and give feedback on Game Design projects.
  • Contribute to bug fixing gameplay issues when possible.


Rank Descriptions

Jr. Game Designer

Jr. Game Designers are the entry rank in the Game Designer team. They are new team members that are not yet confident in Potterworld's tech. They work with the Game Design Leads and their mentor to learn the ins and outs of gameplay creation. Jr. Game Designers begin with the focus of creation, but are able to later change or add on a focus of tech.


Game Designer

Game Designers inherit all responsibilities of Jr. Game Designers. They are able to start and finish a task independently. Additionally, Game Designers can help lead small tasks within certain projects and assist Jr. Game Designers in learning the aspects of the team.


Sr. Game Designer

Sr. Game Designers Inherit all responsibilities of Game Designers, and are proficient in both the technology and creative sides of Game Design. They are able to lead small projects or large tasks within projects and assist the project lead in management-related tasks.


Lead Game Designer

Lead Game Designers are proficient in all areas of Game Design and lead large-scale Game Design projects. They are in charge of the overall management of the Game Design team’s projects, and work closely with the Head of Game Design to make the final decisions on overall Game Design aspects.
