Overview

Professions are a way for players to utilise mob drops and plants to create beneficial effects. The items that players create can help them when fighting mobs, doing quests, or even duelling. A player’s profession level is the same as their player level. This means that every profession is readily available for a player to participate in, but they may be limited to what items they are able to brew or bake.

Profession Types

Herbology

Herbology is a branch of professions that involves collecting plants from plant nodes found throughout the world. These plants are used to create potions and foods that are made through the other two professions. As such, the scavenging of plants is necessary in order to make anything that gives the player an effect. The Herbology page has further information, including which plants are used for each product.

Potions

The Potions branch deals with creating potions from mob drops and plants. Most of the potions that can be created are splash potions that deal damage to mobs and other players, when in a PVP area. Other potions affect the player, such as giving the player more health or invincibility. The Potions page has more information, including a Recipe List that contains the ingredients for every potion.

Cooking

The Cooking branch of professions consists of cooking different food items that give the player different effects. In order to cook each food, mob drops and plants are needed. More information about this profession, including a list of recipes and what effect each item gives, can be found on the Cooking page.

Crafting Stations and Craftsman Mathaelda

Crafting Stations can be found in almost every major town on the map. Here, players can create potions at the Brewing Station and food at the Cooking Oven. While at the Crafting Station, players can also talk to Craftsman Mathaelda to buy a Recipe Book that they can use to check recipes anywhere in the world.

History

Professions were officially released on June 9, 2018, with the implementation of the Exploration Update. When it was introduced, each profession went up to Level 35 and new things were unlocked at each level. Herbology was able to be done regardless, but Potions and Cooking were limited to Level 5 until a player dedicated themselves to one of them. However, players could reset their professions at any time to rededicate themselves to another one. This would lock the player out from levelling up the other profession.

Cooking focused on player buffs, elemental buffs, and saturation. Potions revolved around buffs to the player’s magical ability. Herbology was split into two parts: plants and herbs. The plants had effects that were similar to spells, while herbs were used to craft the unbrewed and uncooked forms of potions and foods. Both herbs and plants were grown from seeds that could be found in resource nodes around the Wilderness.

After cooking, brewing, or growing an item, the player then received general and profession experience. Profession experience allowed the player to increase their profession level, unlocking more items to create. With an increased level, the higher-powered the created items would be. There were a variety of rewards that players could get for reaching Level 35 of a profession, or ‘mastering’ it. These included special profession hats, wands, and emotes. Once a player had mastered a profession, they would get an icon representing their chosen profession in their prefix. After professions were modified with the Revelius Update in July of 2020, players would keep all of the rewards that they earned. However, they are no longer obtainable.
