Craftsman Mathaelda

Overview
Craftsman Mathaelda was born on a sunny afternoon to two loving parents. She had a younger brother named Lothaire, who was born four years after her. Her family lived in a cottage located in the Dark Forest. Because they grew up in the Dark Forest, their father taught both Mathaelda and Lothaire about the various surrounding magical plants and their different properties.
Both Mathaelda and Lothaire attended Hogsworth with Mathaelda being sorted into Honeybadger and Lothaire in Griffin. The two siblings excelled in Herbology, Potions, and Magical Cuisine because of the knowledge they had been taught. However, Lothaire began researching dark magic. In the summer of Mathaelda’s seventh and final year at Hogsworth, her brother decided to brew her an Elixir of Ice to take on her hunting trips. However, because of his research into dark magic, he decided to change the recipe to make the potion more powerful. Their mother found the cauldron and began to take it outside when she tripped and the contents of the potions spilled out onto their father. Unfortunately, this caused their father to fall into a deep sleep and receive a horrendous mix of magical burns and scars.
Mathaelda, Lothaire, and their mother all had immense guilt towards what happened. As a result, their mother fell out of consciousness two months after the incident while Lothaire threw himself into the study of Dark Arts. Soon after, both of Mathaelda’s parents passed away at the age of 37, and Lothaire ran away, never showing up at the cottage again. She has speculated that Lothaire joined the Dark Followers, but continues to refuse to research it further.
Mathaelda decided to turn her focus to becoming a travelling craftsman, relying solely on her trade and wisdom. She wrote a book filled with the potion and food recipes that she had been taught as a child. Mathaelda often thinks about her family, but is always dutifully ready to serve her customers. However, she continues to be cautious about becoming too close with anyone due to a lack of trust in commitment and human nature.
Craftsman Mathaelda is one of the few NPCs that can be found all over the world. She likes to travel the wizarding world, so she can share her famous Recipe Book filled with all the documented potions and magical treats of the world. She stands beside her magical cooking and brewing stations, offering a helping hand to anyone who wants to learn a new profession. This grouping of stations is also known collectively as a Crafting Centre.
Recipe Book
The Recipe Book that Mathaelda wrote and sells is the only travel-sized resource for the ingredients of the wizarding world’s documented potions and treats. If there is a recipe that can be made outside of a classroom (and legally), it is written into her best-selling book. This special book can be purchased from any one of her crafting stations around the world for 37 Gold, a reminder of her parent’s final days.
Not only does she include the mob drop ingredients necessary for their creation, but she also delves briefly into the Herbology profession, which when combined with Potions and treats, makes them as magical as any wand, witch, or wizard. Luckily, Mathaelda’s writing is sympathetic to the struggles of potion and treat makers who are just starting out; she includes both the recipes for graduates as well as earlier years, keeping in mind that many potions are simply too difficult for beginners. On top of that, in order to make it more navigable, Mathaelda split the entries by year and profession. There are separate lists for every year within the Recipe Book indicating what each level is capable of making; these lists are also split by Cooking and Potion-brewing.
