Overview

Relatively new, the town of Rushstone was the brainchild of a Scottish magiscientist named Rory McCormick. The inspiration for the town was a "city on stilts". McCormick spent many years designing the town and attempted to create a proof-of-concept of a town that could exist in areas that easily flood. He secured funding by selling off various other projects. He managed to convince a group of people to move to the town, hoping that more people would follow suit after seeing its initial success. This did not happen– instead people took residence on the mountainside next to the city, fearing that the stilts that held the city up would collapse. A bridge connected the group living on the mountainside and the group living in the city.

After McCormick passed away, the two groups came together to form Rushstone. A few years later, the folks who lived on the hillside noticed that those living on the stilt part were acting funny. They were refusing to leave and asserting that the town was perfect. After research was conducted, it was discovered that a noxious seaweed was producing fumes that affected the residents of the stilt part of the town. Even after this was discovered, those living on the mountainside have tried to help where they can, but the stilt townspeople refuse to budge.

In the hillside part of the town, there is a secret coven of witches that are known as the Raven’s Nest that track magical anomalies across Europe. Based out of Rushtone, their headquarters are located in a secret room hidden inside the mountains. The only way to access the headquarters is through a secret entrance in one of the houses on the hillside.

The Mayor’s Residence is nestled between two of the larger hillsides in Rushstone. Annabeth Calhoun, the current mayor, has recently lost contact with her son after he went camping with friends in the forest near Rushstone.

Players can find Rushstone north of Hogsworth, around halfway between Antrum and Walden. While it is possible to walk there, it is much easier to fly there on a broom due to the surrounding mountainous terrain. As Rushstone is a Level 70 location, by the time students venture over there, they will most likely take their brooms.

Rushstone does not have as many utilities as other towns on the map. There is no Bank in Rushstone. However, there is a Shady Dealer, Vendor, Crafting Centre, Fire Dust Network, and Marketplace that visitors can stop by when in town. The Rushstone Reputation taskboard is found to the north and slightly east of the Vendor.

Geography and Environment

Rushstone is located next to a beautiful river that flows through and to the east of the town. This also means that this mountainous town is prone to floods, causing half of the town to be held up by wooden stilts. Despite the rocky terrain and low temperature, the people of Rushstone have managed to successfully grow crops, mainly wheat. There is also noxious seaweed that grows in Rushstone that has caused half of the town to act in bizarre ways. When venturing outside of town, visitors will find patches of oak trees dispersed through the mountains.

Creatures and Plants

Rushstone is completely devoid of creatures. The closest mob to Rushstone are the Vexlings, all the way over near Antrum. Visitors do have a selection of plants to find, however, it is a small variety compared to other towns. Dittany Lvl. 70, Nightshade Lvl. 70, and Wolfsbane Lvl. 70 can be found around Rushstone and can be used to help craft profession items.
