Overview

Brooms are one of the most well-known forms of transportation on Potterworld. With a broom, a player can fly around the map from place to place. This is definitely a more scenic way of travelling than the other options available.

In order to fly a broom, the player must first hold it in hand. Then, after clicking, the player will begin to fly. However, one cannot fly if there are any blocks above the player's head. To move around, press W to move forward. Pressing A will move the player to the left, and pressing D will move the player to the right. One must still be pressing the W key in order for A or D to work. Pressing the S key will halt any movement. Press the Space Bar to ascend higher into the air. To hop off of the broom, simply press the Shift key.

Brooms can be extremely vital when travelling. Unlike Fire Dust, a broom only needs to be purchased once for unlimited uses. Brooms that go at different speeds can also be purchased. This can make for quick and scenic travel when exploring or trying to find a destination for a quest.

Not a fan of how the broom looks? Players can purchase a broom appearance from the store website. To get a link to the store in-game, run the /buy or /store command in-game. Broom appearances vary from a Hippogriff, Storm Petral, a flying chair, or even a magic carpet.

Obtaining Brooms

Pre-Revelius Brooms

Have a broom from before the Revelius update? It can be for an updated broom in /me. It is in the bottom right-hand corner labelled “Broom Exchange”. Otherwise, make a support ticket with /t create.

Crafting a Broom

Currently, to obtain a broom, a player must first collect the needed materials and the recipe for that specific broom. The materials and recipes are obtained from killing mobs in the wilderness, discovering hidden chests around the map, purchasing them from the Marketplace, or trading with other players. The better and faster the broom, the higher tier it is. Recipes for higher-tiered brooms are also a lot rarer to obtain. While all levels of mobs have the chance of dropping every type of broom recipe, the higher the level, the higher the chance it will drop a top-tier recipe.

Once the appropriate materials and recipe have been collected, the player must travel to the Broom Seller NPC in order to craft the broom. This NPC is located at Broomsmiths in Diagonal Lane, London. For a fee, the materials, and the recipe, the NPC will craft the broom.

Crafting brooms can be expensive. An alternative is to purchase a broom from another player via Gold.

Broomsmith Break-In

After completing the third-year quest Broomsmith Break-In, a player will earn their own Briskbranch broom. This is a good starter broom, especially in the lower years. This broom can be levelled up to the broom of the next tier once all other required materials are collected.

History

The first version of brooms on Potterworld was very different compared to the system we use today. The names of brooms many years ago used to be the canon terms from Harry Potter. The mechanics had also worked differently. Rather than the A and D keys moving the player, they would only rotate the direction that the player was looking towards. There were also brooms for purchase that had temporary uses.
