Overview

Edgebrook was founded by a group of magical villagers who had left Portstead after the Kraken began attacking by the sea. Many of the founders of Edgebrook were originally fishermen but gave up their ways in order to settle down and live with the land. Nowadays, many of the villagers, mostly descendants from the original group who left Portstead, live simple lives in the town. They have a good relationship with Portstead now, as both groups of people are welcome in both towns. Once a year, during the autumn festival, the street between Portstead and Edgebrook becomes lined with tables with villagers convening together for a feast of fish and vegetables, each town bringing their signature export.

When the original group left Portstead, they were heartbroken to leave their old town and knew they wanted to stick close by. They did not travel far, deciding to settle down on the top of the hill overlooking Portstead, which was far enough away from the water that the tormenting Kraken could not reach them. As many of them were formerly fishermen, they needed to find a new way of life. Most began to farm in order to get food and replace their dependency on fishing. After experimenting with bits of magic, they managed to create enchanted scarecrows. These scarecrows ward off creatures who attempt to ruin the crops, help harvest the crops at the end of the season, and die off, turning into compost that fertilises the land so that the crops the following year grow healthily.

On Potterworld’s world map, Edgebrook can be found on a small plateau towards the southeast side of Great Britain. As a level 30 town, players are meant to visit and unlock its location in their Year 4 quests by flying with a broom or walking from a nearby town, most often London or Portstead. From Edgebrook, the surrounding towns include Wightwaye to the west, Portstead to the east, and London to the north. There also resides an Auralock camp nearby, lying northwest of the town. To view it on the map, run the /map command in-game to get a link to it.

At Edgebrook, visiting players can expect to find a Shady Dealer, Vendor, Crafting CentreFire Dust Network Marketplace, and Tommy Riddle. Unfortunately, there is no Bank or Minigames here. The Edgebrook Reputation taskboard is found outside next to the house the Shady Dealer resides in.

Geography & Environment

Built upon a small plateau inland, Edgebrook has a predominantly mild climate. Being towards the southern end of Great Britain, this town is not prone to severe weather. There will be severe winds coming from the coast at times, which may draw in storms, but the town generally has fine weather and soil for growing crops. The area also has a small stream running through town, leading from the ocean to the south. This helps nourish the flora and hedges around town. In addition, the surrounding area features a variety of oak and spruce trees and rocky hillsides.

Notable Locations

Windmill

The most recognisable building in Edgebrook is none other than the windmill. It towers above the rest of the buildings, housing most of the grains that are grown ground up. Run currently by Felix and Tamara, the windmill is the base of operations for a family business. It is a point of sorrow for the village, as 50 years ago Tamara’s husband came stumbling out of the windmill at night, after drinking too much Scorching Scotch, and fell into the nearly-endless well and drowned. The village was deeply saddened, and Tamara never fully moved on from her husband's death. Some say his spirit still haunts the bottom of the nearly-bottomless well to this day, and some go further and say that his soul has been corrupted, haunting the village. Others say he even appears to speak to the villages through the living scarecrows, but those are mostly just legends. Mostly.

Auralock Camp

Nearby lies a small Auralock Camp to the northwest of Edgebrook. There is not much to find here other than a couple of tents, however, there is the main Auralock Camp to the north of Haggleton that one can visit.

Shops

Creatures and Plants

The hillside of Edgebrook is bordered by several mobs’ habitats. Among these are the lumbering Level 29 Ogres living in their self-made huts along the southern shore, the hot-headed Level 30 Explosively-Ended Newts crawling about in the burnt forest to the far east, and the majestic Level 28 Thunderhawks flying about their nests to the northwest. All of these mobs will drop their respective mob drops, and, depending on the level, Year 3 or 4 broom materials and recipes on rarer occasions, along with Level 21-30 or 31-40 gear recipes.

Alongside having a variety of mobs, there are a variety of profession plant nodes to be found around Edgebrook. These include Wormwood Lvl. 20, Nightshade Lvl. 20, Dittany Lvl. 20, and Wrinklefig Lvl. 20. All can be used to craft Year 3 profession items.

Hidden Chests

Throughout Edgebrook, there are a handful of hidden chests scattered about. To find them, one may need to look closely within houses and at nooks and crannies in the surrounding area. A utility spell or two can help you access certain hidden chests. These hidden chests possess items from Level 31-40 mobs, 31-40 gear recipes, and broom recipes on even rarer occasions. They can range from Tier 1 to Tier 2 type chests, with the higher the tier being harder to find and with rarer loot. Upon finding a hidden chest, the player will also be rewarded with Gold occasionally.

Trivia

  • A Pumpkin Farmer resides closely to town, towards the east. Unfortunately, he is not selling any pumpkins as the Explosively-Ended Newts took them.
  • The brick well in town holds secrets beneath it…
  • A fast-travel method between Edgebrook and Tristmoor can be unlocked with one of the quests here.
