Overview

Explosively-Ended Newts are Level 30, aggressive mobs on Potterworld. They are currently located to the east of Portstead in a burnt down forest that is right off the shore. While they are a middle-levelled creature, they can deal quite a bit of damage and require some gear and decent spells in order to defeat and survive. While their exclusive mob drops are required in the quest Electric Curation, you may also encounter these creatures during the Fish Out of Water quest.

The Explosively-Ended Newt came into existence in 1994 as a result of Reuben Hagrius breeding a Manticore and Flame Crawler. However, it is still unknown how Reuben was able to get these two creatures to breed with each other. Explosively-Ended Newts are mostly described as shell-less lobster or scorpion. While these creatures are extremely lethal, the worst feature about them is definitely the rotten fish smell that is given off from their bodies.

At about two months old, an Explosively-Ended Newt is around 90 centimetres long and begins to develop a shiny, greyish armour on their body; this armour makes them look like an enlarged crab or large scorpion. Once another month has passed, this creature reaches its maximum size of 10 feet long and looks extremely similar to a gigantic scorpion. The hardened armour that an Explosively-Ended Newt develops is able to deflect most of the spells that a wizard or witch might cast. However, their underside is vulnerable to attacks, as it is the only area not protected by its armour. While male Newts have stingers that are normally seen curled over their backs, female Newts have suckers that allow them to suck blood from other creatures.

Behaviour & Defence

Upon entering the burnt forest, Explosively-Ended Newts will begin to spawn and immediately attack a player due to their aggressive behaviour. While these are slower moving creatures, they have an ability that can enhance their speed and allow them to quickly reach a player.

Explosively-Ended Newts have a total of 640 HP each. Their basic attack deals 128 damage and they have two special abilities known as an explosion and sprint. After being hit with a spell, an Explosively-Ended Newt may choose to use one of these two abilities against the player. Their explosion attack is an AOE ability that deals with 192 damage. The Explosively-Ended Newt can also choose to use their sprint ability in order to quickly crawl towards a player and attack them.

Multiple Explosively-Ended Newts can spawn at once and all crawl towards a player. It can quickly become overwhelming, as they do deal quite a bit of damage. Having some gear and decent spells is necessary in order to survive and defeat these creatures.

Explosively-Ended Newts are extremely hot-headed creatures that tend to act like scorpions. These creatures do not hibernate in the winter, but it is also unknown as to what they actually eat. When in combat, this creature utilises their explosive abilities by blasting sparks in order to move closer to their enemies. However, these sparks can also occur randomly and propel the Newt forward a small distance. Unfortunately, there are not many Explosively-Ended Newts left in existence; this is mostly due to the fact that these creatures often kill off their own species.

Habitat

Explosively-Ended Newts can be found living right off the shore in a burnt down forest to the east of Portstead. Around the habitat, Gurgle Weed Lvl. 30 nodes can be found.

Defeat

As a Level 30 mob, Explosively-Ended Newts have the chance of dropping exclusive mob drops. These drops include Explosively-Ended Newt Tooth, Explosively-Ended Newt Foot, and Explosively-Ended Newt Gills. Additionally, like most other types of mobs, they also have a rare chance of dropping Lvl 31-40 Gear Pieces and Broom Recipes. While their exclusive mob drops are required in the quest Electric Curation, they can also be used in the crafting of profession items such as the Charming Fizz Cakes IV, Charming Fizz Tea IV, Charming Concoction IV, and Restoration Draught IV.
