Overview

A Serpent student is lost in the Hogsworth Dungeons. The Carnage Count has begrudgingly asked for your help with locating the student and returning them to safety.

Quest Progression

To begin this quest, speak to the Carnage Count NPC in the Hogsworth Dungeons near the entrance of the Serpent Common Room. 

Dialogue

  • [1/4] Hello. There is a particular Serpent student in need of a bit of assistance.
  • [2/4] I was quite tempted to simply leave them, though they were sorted into my house regardless of their stupidity.
  • [3/4] They wandered into a sparkling statue near the entrance to the dungeons and it was obviously too distracting to resist. Now they have foolishly got themselves trapped.
  • [4/4] Are you willing to go find them? I hope you are cunning enough to not simply become trapped as well.


Objective 1 - Locate the trapped student

Description

A student has entered into a hidden trap and is now unable to escape. Find the sparkling statue near the entrance to the dungeons to enter the chamber and help free the student.


Objective 2 - Find the code to unlock the door

Description

The door leading out of the trap is magically locked. Input the correct arrows in the correct order to unlock it.

Dialogue

  • [1/3] H-hey. I’m glad you’re here. I thought I was going to be stuck alone in this place forever! The secret entrance only works one way, so I couldn’t get back out.
  • [2/3] There’s a door, but there’s a magical lock on it and Avomora is not working.
  • [3/3] Maybe we can figure out the code to open it. I wonder who would create a place like this in the castle...


Objective 3 - Drink the correct potion

Description

Solve the riddle on the table by selecting the correct potion, then walking through the fire.

Dialogue

  • [1/2] It looks like there is a note with a riddle on the table.
  • [2/2] I think we have to choose the correct potion to get through the flames.


Objective 4 - Cross the chasm

Description

Use the broken pieces of the bridge and Leviomora to safely cross the chasm.

Dialogue

  • [1/2] This bridge has probably seen some better days.
  • [2/2] Look, there are some fallen planks around. I bet if we cast Leviomora on them, we could get across.


Objective 5 - Convince the snake statue to open the door

Description

Use the smaller snake statues to communicate in serpenttongue.

Dialogue

  • [1/2] When I touched one of these little snake statues, it made a weird noise. I think it could be Serpenttongue, the language of snakes.
  • [2/2] If we play the sounds in the right order, do you think we could tell the statue to open the door?


Player solves the puzzle and opens the door


  • [1/2] Wow! You got us out! Thank you so much, I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life down there.
  • [2/2] I still wonder why someone would build something like that in the castle...

Tips

  • The riddle to choose the right potion may seem tricky, but if you eliminate each of the potions one by one, you will be able to get to the correct answer.
  • Use the spell Leviomora on the blocks with feathers on them in order to cross the bridge!
  • There are some helpful heads on each of the snake statues. Figure out what word needs to be spelt out in Serpenttongue, and click each of the blocks on the statue.
