WizNewsletter

Overview

The WizNewsletter is a monthly bulletin that goes through updates and notable changes on the server. This allows for students and staff to stay caught up with server news. The first WizNewsletter came out on November 1st, 2020 and went over October’s news. The newsletter generally follows the same format, with the month’s WizNewsletter being released at the beginning of the next month. This ensures that every change, even those that happened on the last few days of the month, are included.

People can access each month’s WizNewsletter through PotterworldMC’s forums. On the forums, there is also an archive of past WizNewsletters that players can browse. Players can find the WizNewsletter by navigating to the forums and hovering over the second tab found at the top of the website and selecting “All Forums”. Once the player is on the forum, they can click the first section “News and Updates”. From there all the player must do is select the first section “WizNewsletter” to access every released WizNewsletter.

The WizNewsletter is curated and released by the server’s WizNetworkers. They spend hours researching, writing, and editing the newsletter to make sure that everyone stays updated on any server changes.

WizNewsletter Sections

There are five different sections found in the WizNewsletter. These sections are the same every month, with changes being put into their applicable section.

Department & Applications

Department & Applications goes over which applications have opened or closed that month. A list of all current open applications are also provided in this section. Department-specific information is included as well. What kind of information incorporated in this section varies by department and month, but this can include new team announcements, structural changes, and more.

Server Announcements

Server Announcements go over general server updates. This section is where the monthly store releases are discussed and a brief description of the releases are provided. This section also includes bug fixes and improvements.

Gameplay Updates

Gameplay Updates includes updates on new events and major gameplay changes. Here, the event or update are briefly described and linked to the original, in-depth announcement.

Community Updates

Community Updates goes over news pertaining to the Potterworld community. This includes community engagements, seasonal competitions, tournaments, along with Roleplay updates. Usually, news about community engagements and tournaments are in every WizNewsletter, as these are monthly occurrences.

Hires & Promotions

Hires & Promotions outlines any hires and promotions within each department. Usually, each position that has added an additional member is written with the usernames of those who were hired or promoted to that position. If a department has no hires or promotions that month, the department will not be included in this section.
