Overview

The Swooping Death is a Level 58, aggressive mob on Potterworld. They are currently located on the cliffs of Ireland. These creatures are quite powerful and require good gear and strong spells in order to survive and defeat. One of their exclusive mob drops is needed in the Siren Mayhem quest.

A Swooping Death’s appearance greatly resembles a massive butterfly in multiple aspects, such as their colourful wings. These creatures oftentimes encase themselves in their own wings and transform into a cocoon. In this cocoon form, a Swooping Death is also able to hang from trees using an extendable appendage. The cocoon itself is extremely firm and nearly indestructible while also being known to deflect multiple types of spells. In addition to their tough wings, Swooping Deaths have sharp fangs and stubby bodies as well. Even though they have an enhanced sense of smell and sight, these creatures lack visible eyes. However, if a person comes into contact with a Swooping Death, the best thing to do is run away, as this creature can be extremely dangerous.

Behaviour and Defence

While travelling through the cliffs, Swooping Deaths will begin to spawn and immediately attack a player due to their aggressive behaviour. These creatures do not move extremely fast, but they have abilities that allow them to quickly teleport a short distance and deal damage to a player farther away.

Swooping Deaths have a total of 2325 HP each. Their basic attack deals 465 damage and they have two special abilities known as an AOE and dash. After being hit with a spell, a Swooping Death may choose to use one of these two abilities against the player. Their AOE attack is an Area of Effect ability that deals 697 damage. A Swooping Death might also choose to charge up their dash ability in order to teleport towards a player and attack them dealing 697 damage.  Multiple Swooping Deaths can spawn at a time and all fly towards a certain player. This can quickly get overwhelming, as they can deal quite a bit of damage. Having good gear and strong spells on hand is necessary in order to survive and defeat these creatures.

Swooping Deaths typically hunt during the day and sleep hanging in tall trees through the night. When these creatures sleep, they will usually wrap their wings around a tree’s branches for comfort and security. While hunting, Swooping Deaths will use the venom in their fangs as a method of deception, and a way to subdue their prey. The venom initially makes whoever is injected with it feel happiness and excitement but eventually causes excruciating pain and memory loss. However, a Swooping Death’s venom can also be used to help cure multiple mental health problems if it is extracted and diluted correctly; these problems can include erasing a person’s bad memories, clearing the causes of trauma, paranoia, PTSD, etc.

Habitat

Swooping Deaths can be found living in the southeastern cliffs of Ireland. Additionally, Puffing Pod Lvl. 50 plant nodes can be found scattered around the cliffs as well as within the caves of the mountains.

Defeat

As a Level 58 mob, Swooping Deaths have the chance of dropping Level 51-60 broom materials as well as exclusive mob drops. These drops include Silver Footholds, Yew Handle, Wool Handlewraps, and Vine Bristles as well as Swooping Death Spike, Swooping Death Dung, and Swooping Death Heart. Additionally, like most other types of mobs, they also have a rare chance of dropping Lvl 51-60 Gear Pieces and Broom Recipes. Materials such as Footholds, Handle, Handlewraps, and Bristles can play a part in crafting such recipes into brooms. While their exclusive mob drops are not required in any quests, they can be used in the crafting of professions items such as the Puffing Pod Fudge VI, Jester's Stew VI, Jester's Tea VI, and Transformation Tonic VI.
