Overview
Byrne, the captain of the Newcastle Elk quabbleball team, requests that you take the place of their Searcher in their upcoming match. Craft your own custom glove before the game and play against the Wigtown Wayfarers.
Quest Progression
Begin this quest by speaking with Byrne at the Quabbleball pitch in Ireland.
Dialogue
Before accepting
- [1/3] 'Ello there! I'm Byrne, the captain of the Newcastle Elk, one of the best teams in the entire league!
- [2/3] We've been training really hard for the past week for our big game against the Wigtown Wayfarers, but our Searcher became sick.
- [3/3] You look like you're good at flying. Do you think you could take her place as the Searcher in today's match?
After accepting
- [1/3] Thanks for offering to play with us.
- [2/3] What makes the Newcastle Elk so good at Quabbleball is that we all have our own custom gloves. No two pairs of gloves are alike and each pair can only be worn by its owner, so we don't have any to lend to you.
- [3/3] There's a leatherworker that made all our gloves just outside the pitch and following the east path. He'll probably make you one as well!
Objective 1 - Talk to the Leatherworker
Description
Go to the Leatherworker's shop just outside the pitch and following the east path and talk to him about making a custom Quabbleball glove in order to play with the Newcastle Elk.
Dialogue
- [1/3] Eh? You want me to make you some magical Quabbleball gloves?
- [2/3] It's not that easy to make them you know. You need to get me some leather of a Witherwood Elk. These elk are known to be dangerous.
- [3/3] There is a Witherwood cave farther north where one of these wretched elk live. You'll know what cave it is. It's got vines at its entrance.
Objective 2 - Obtain Elk Leather for the Leatherworker
Description
Enter the Witherwood Cave to the north and kill the Witherwood Elk for its leather. Afterwards, take the leather to the Leatherworker.
Dialogue
- [1/3] Ah there's the Witherwood Elk leather!
- [2/3] Time to work on your glove now. It'll only take a short moment.
- [3/3] Here's your finished glove! I hope it serves you well.
Objective 3 - Return to Byrne
Description
Take your glove to Byrne to show him that you're ready to play with the team.
Objective 4 - Play as Searcher
Description
Play as the Searcher in the Newcastle Elk's match and catch the Swippet. Talk to Byrne to play.
Dialogue
- [1/3] Wow, you're back with the glove!
- [2/3] You are so ready to play with us now. You're the Searcher, after all, so don't forget to catch the Swippet during the game.
- [3/3] Are you ready? You'll need your own broom to play.
Objective 5 - Speak to Byrne
Description
Now that the match is done, talk to Byrne.
Dialogue
- [1/2] You did so great out there! Are you sure you don't want to join our team permanently? We'd love to have you stay with us.
- [2/2] Well here's something the team would like to give you as a thank you!
Tips
- If you are unsure of which direction you’re facing, try using F3 to see your cardinal directions and more information about your location.
- If you are in need of a broom, try going back and doing the third year Broomsmith Break-In quest if you have not already done it.
