Overview

Phoenixes are Level 48, aggressive mobs on Potterworld. Their nest is currently located in the mountains to the west of Griffin’s Hollow. While they are a middle-levelled creature, they can deal quite a bit of damage and require decent gear and specific spells in order to survive and defeat. Their exclusive mob drops are required in the quests Rest in Peace and Ghost Busters

Phoenixes are magnificent magical birds that can often be seen with red and gold feathers. These feathers are usually hot to the touch due to their fiery nature. However, it is unknown whether or not Phoenixes are able to control the temperature of their feathers to prevent people they trust from getting burned. It is also believed that fire might potentially strengthen or speed up the ageing process of a Phoenix. These creatures are naturally a calm and gentle species, but when angered, can still pose as a threat due to their sharp claws and golden beak.

These magical birds are most known for their long lifespans and immortality. Phoenixes experience what is known as a “Burning Day” several times throughout their lives. When they are about to experience a “Burning Day”, this creature will begin to lose all their feathers and their eyes will become full. Once this happens, a Phoenix will suddenly burst into flames and rise from the ashes moments later looking completely normal. These birds can even be hit by the Mortiavra curse and rise from the “dead” once again making them the only creature immune to this spell. In addition to this, they are also not affected by the basilisk’s gaze, which would normally kill or paralyse a creature or person. Another skill that a Phoenix possesses is their ability to vanish and then instantly reappear in another location through a burst of flames; this process is very similar to Appareon, but these creatures only leave behind a single tail feather.

While Phoenixes are extremely loyal creatures, they are also very independent and cannot usually be tamed. There are only two known domesticated Phoenixes named Faulks and Ember. Ember was the team mascot for a New Zealand Quabbleball team called the Mokohinau Magpies. These creatures are known to be lifelong friends and companions during their owner’s lifetime. However, if that person should ever die, a Phoenix will rarely take on a new master and instead leave to find their own path in life.

Behaviour & Defence

While travelling through the mountains, Phoenixes will begin to spawn and immediately attack a player due to their aggressive behaviour. While these creatures do not move extremely fast, they have abilities that allow them to quickly teleport a short distance and deal damage to a player farther away.

Phoenixes have a total of 1505 HP each. Their basic attack deals 301 damage and they have three special abilities; one known as a dash and two others called flames. After being hit with a spell, a Phoenix may choose to use one of these three abilities against the player. Their dash ability allows them to quickly teleport towards a player and attack, dealing an initial hit of 301 damage and setting the player on fire; without a proper spell to put this flame out, the fire tick damage can deal up to 695 total damage to a player. Phoenixes also have two special abilities both known as flames which set a player on fire. One of the flames abilities is an AOE attack that does an initial hit of 451 damage and can deal up to 837 total damage. A Phoenix may also choose to charge up their other flames ability which is a missile attack that does an initial hit of 451 damage and can deal up to 817 total damage.

Multiple Phoenixes can spawn at a time and all fly towards a certain player. This can quickly get overwhelming, as they can deal quite a bit of damage through fire. Having decent gear as well as healing and flame-dousing spells on hand is necessary in order to survive and defeat this creature.

Phoenixes are extremely calm and loyal creatures. They have many abilities which can be used to benefit those who have earned their trust. Their tears have special healing properties that can heal almost any injury or illness and possibly even save someone who is on the brink of death. A Phoenix will also occasionally let out a song to encourage those that are good and strike fear into those who are evil; this song will also bring a sense of comfort and support to all who can hear it.

Their feathers are a very popular wand core. However, Phoenixes can be picky with who they trust and want to do things according to their own preferences. Because of this, the wands that are created from a Phoenix feather are extremely particular with who they choose and can oftentimes have a mind of their own.

Habitat

Phoenixes typically create their nests on mountain peaks. On Potterworld, these creatures can be found living in the mountains to the west of Griffin’s Hollow and to the north of Eldham Ridge. Additionally, Puffing Pod Lvl. 40 nodes can be found scattered around their nesting areas and throughout the surrounding mountains.

Defeat

As a Level 48 mob, Phoenixes have the chance of dropping Level 41-50 broom materials as well as exclusive mob drops. These drops include Brass Footholds, Walnut Handle, Fur Handlewraps, and Stick Bristles as well as Phoenix Feather, Phoenix Dung, and Phoenix Heart. Additionally, like most other types of mobs, they also have a rare chance of dropping Lvl 41-50 Gear Pieces and Broom Recipes. Materials such as Footholds, Handle, Handlewraps, and Bristles can play a part in crafting such recipes into brooms. While their exclusive mob drops are required in the quests Rest in Peace and Ghost Busters, they can also be used in the crafting of profession items such as the Puffing Pod Fudge V, Jester's Stew V, Jester's Tea V, and Transformation Tonic V.
