Overview
Brittany Bernauer, a ghost near the Griffin's Hollow church, has now become less in denial about her death. Instead, her denial is replaced with anger towards you! Help Brittany find a meaningful way to spend her time as a ghost.
Quest Progression
To begin this quest, speak to the Brittany Bernauer NPC in the graveyard outside the church in Griffin’s Hollow!
Dialogue
- [1/3] I-I can't believe that this is real. I thought you'd be able to undo it, but I guess not...
- [2/3] I will never be able to have a career or a future. Unless... I think one of my professors at Hogsworth was a ghost!
- [3/3] Maybe I can still have a career too! I always loved brewing potions. Maybe you could talk to the potioneer for me and see if I could work for him?
Objective 1 - Speak to Marc Burgess
Description
Speak to Marc Burgess in the potions store to ask if Brittany can work for him as a potioneer.
Dialogue
- [1/3] Brittany...? Ah yes, I recall hearing about her being a bright student. I could probably find some work for her in the shop, though it wouldn't be paid of course.
- [2/3] A shame she isn't here right this moment, I could really use another pair of hands. Actually, take these ingredients and use them to brew [1 Dragon Plague Cure] yourself.
- [3/3] If I find the quality of the potion to be satisfactory, I might find some bit of empathy and offer her a job.
Objective 2 - Help Brittany become a Potioneer
Description
In order to help Brittany secure a job with the potioneer, brew [1 Dragon Plague Cure] using the ingredients given by Marc. Return the potion to Marc when it is complete.
Dialogue
- [1/3] A bit too long in the cauldron, but I suppose this will do. Oh, you thought I'd seriously give Brittany a job if you brewed this?
- [2/3] I was joking, ghosts can't hold ingredients. She's of no use to me.
- [3/3] That crazy creature lady Ms. Kneazler that lives down the block might be able to find a job for her.
Objective 3 - Speak to Ms. Kneazler
Description
Speak to Ms. Kneazler inside her home in central Griffin's Hollow to ask if Brittany can work for her as a magizoologist.
Dialogue
- [1/5] Good to see you again! Wait until you hear about this adorable Arachtella I- oh. Brittany is looking for a job?
- [2/5] I would absolutely love some company! And, I have just the task for Brittany to complete.
- [3/5] The Trolls have set up a camp to the west of Griffin's Hollow near the mountains and have been increasingly problematic and attacking local Unmagicals.
- [4/5] As the local magizoologist, people think that I can just control them! But I am a horrendous duelist and really do hate the thought of harming them.
- [5/5] Tell Brittany to take a head over there and bring me back [10 Troll Bogie] once they've been dealt with. I make an excellent Troll Bogie Stew!
Objective 4 - Help Brittany become a Magizoologist
Description
Return to Brittany in the graveyard and help her defeat the Trolls in the camp just outside Griffin's Hollow. Give Ms. Kneazler [10 Troll Bogie] once enough Trolls have been defeated.
Dialogue
Brittany
- [1/4] Oh. It's a shame Marc didn't want me. At least Ms. Kneazler is a bit nicer. What was it that she wanted me to do?
- [2/4] She wants me to go confront a dangerous creature!? Absolutely not! Have you forgotten that one of those terrible creatures killed me?
- [3/4] But maybe I don't have to go near a magical creature... You can do it for me!
- [4/4] Please just help me out once more I swear it's the last time. Defeat the Trolls and give the [10 Troll Bogie] to Ms. Kneazler for me.
Ms. Kneazler
- [1/3] Aha! You have the bogies! Tell her I say thank you. I'm so happy I didn't have to hurt any Trolls myself.
- [2/3] Hold on a second. That's Troll blood on your robes. Were you the one to fight the Trolls?
- [3/3] I suppose I should have realised that Brittany would not be fond of creatures. I recall her loving to write though. Maybe try asking the Librarian at the Griffin's Hollow library if she could become an author. The library is on the outskirts of Griffin's Hollow, east of the church.
Objective 5 - Speak to the Librarian
Description
Speak to the Librarian in the Griffin's Hollow library to ask if Brittany can write books for the library.
Dialogue
- [1/3] I would be very happy to have Brittany writing books for my library.
- [2/3] The only issue is that she would be unable to hold a quill, as she is a ghost. I think I have a solution though.
- [3/3] First, gather [8 Giant Squid Ink] from the Griffin's Hollow river. You can find it washed up near where the stone bricks meet the water. Then, retrieve [1 Phoenix Feather] by killing Phoenixes in the mountains to the west of Griffin's Hollow just beyond the Troll Camp. Finally, use my workbench to craft the materials into [1 Enchanted Quill]!
Objective 6 - Help Brittany become an Author
Description
Gather [8 Giant Squid Ink] in the Griffin's Hollow river and [1 Phoenix Feather] from the Phoenixes in the mountains, then craft [1 Enchanted Quill] to give to Brittany.
Dialogue
- [1/3] Thank you for trying, but I don't think there's anything left for me to do. It's just hopeless.
- [2/3] What's this? I can write books for the library with it? That's amazing! I always wanted to become an author!
- [3/3] Thank you so much for helping me out! I'm so glad I'll still be able to follow my passion, despite everything that has happened.
Tips
- Patience is important when fighting the Trolls. It will take a bit of time to collect all 10 Troll bogies, but keep fighting them and do not give up!
- Finding all of the Squid Ink can be tricky. Make sure you search all along the river, up high and down low to find all locations!
