Overview

Players will test their brewing skills in their first Potions lesson. Accompanied by their friend Jeremiah, players will need to collect ingredients to make multiple different potions. This quest will allow players to see how brewing works, teach them how to use the Avomora spell to unlock doors, and shows how mob drops and plants are important potion ingredients.

Quest Progression

To start this quest, talk to the Jeremiah NPC outside the Rudimentary Potions classroom in Hogsworth. 

Dialogue

• [1/4] Hey you! Are you ready for our first Potions lesson? I know I'm not.
• [2/4] Also, can you believe they have a lesson in the Dungeons? It feels spooky down here.
• [3/4] I've heard that the Professor is tough... as if I wasn't scared enough to have a lesson down here. He doesn't care if we're first years... He expects perfection.
• [4/4] I guess we better head inside. It's now or never, my friend. Are you ready?

Objective 1 - Meet the Professor

Description

Head inside the Potions Classroom and introduce yourself to Professor Koa.

Dialogue

• [1/5] Haven't you heard?! Early is on time and on time is late! I don't tolerate tardiness in my lessons.
• [2/5] You're lucky I'm having a good day today, though. I'll let it slide this time... but don't let it happen again!
• [3/5] Now, let me introduce myself. I'm Professor Koa, I will be your Potions Professor this year.
• [4/5] Don't expect this lesson to be easy just because it's for first years! Potion making is an art form, and it requires delicacy and focus.
• [5/5] Go take a seat, would you? I want to start my lesson.
  

Objective 2 - Listen to Potion Lecture

Description

Take a seat and listen to the potion lecture by Professor Koa.

Dialogue

• [1/10] Welcome students! The art of potion making takes practice, which you will have plenty of by the end of today’s lesson.
• [2/10] It is also important to understand the instruments at your disposal.
• [3/10] You have an oven, a chopping board, some pipettes, and most importantly, a cauldron.
• [4/10] The instruments that you use and how you use them will vary based on the ingredients of the potion you’re brewing.
• [5/10] Each potion recipe is unique. You may be required to chop, melt, cut, extract, or boil your ingredients, just to name a few.
• [6/10] When brewing your potion, it’s important to pay attention to the steps because one wrong move and your potion is done for!
• [7/10] The time it takes to brew your potion is also very important. Sometimes if it takes you too long to finish your brew, your potion becomes defective.
• [8/10]Don’t worry about timing today, though. We will only practice following the steps of two different potions. 
• [9/10]Then, you’ll get to brew a third potion without my supervision to test what you’ve learned.
• [10/10]Let’s begin by making [1 Beginner’s Bubbling Brew]. Come up to me to receive your ingredients.

Objective 3 - Return to Professor Koa

Description

Now that you've finished the lecture, Professor Koa wants to speak with you. Talk to Professor Koa to begin your potion making practice.

Dialogue

• [1/3] I hope you were paying attention. I saw you taking notes... I just hope they're good ones.
• [2/3] It's time to start brewing your first potion, [1 Beginner's Bubbling Brew].
• [3/3] Here are your ingredients, and you should use one of the brewing stations in this room. Return to me once you've succeeded. Get to it!

Objective 4 - Brew Potion

Description

Use the ingredients Professor Koa gave you to brew [1 Beginner's Bubbling Brew] at a brewing station in the Potions Classroom.

Objective 5 - Return to Professor Koa

Description

Return to Professor Koa in the Potions Classroom.

Dialogue

• [1/4] Well done, [player username]. You're already off to a decent start.
• [2/4] Although, I expect to see more from you to be impressed. This time, you will have to find the ingredients yourself.
• [3/4] Use the potion you just made to help you find your next ingredients. A Beginner's Bubbling Brew is more than just a practice potion! It can make bubbles appear at your feet, allowing you to jump higher. Use this to your advantage to find the other ingredients.
• [4/4] Once you find [1 Dried Cheetah Blood], [1 Hyperactive Lily], and [1 Flying Car Fuel] around the classroom, make [1 Specialist's Speedy Solution] and return to me again once you have it.
  

Objective 6 - Find Ingredients 

Description

Use [1 Beginner's Bubbling Brew] to help you locate [1 Dried Cheetah Blood], [1 Hyperactive Lily], and [1 Flying Car Fuel] around the Potions Classroom.

Objective 7 - Brew Potion

Description

With all the required ingredients, brew [1 Specialist's Speedy Solution] at a brewing station in the Potions Classroom.

Objective 8 - Return to Professor Koa

Description

Return to Professor Koa in the Potions Classroom. 

Dialogue

• [1/8] Well well, consider me impressed. You did that relatively quick, too.
• [2/8] Now, I'm really going to put you to the test. You will need to venture beyond the walls of this classroom to acquire your next ingredients. Do you think you can manage that?
• [3/8] Hmph, you're determined, I'll give you that. Well, for your last assignment, you are to brew [1 Hogsworth Pride Potion].
• [4/8] You'll need to find [1 Crystallised Pride] and [1 Hogsworth Stream Water], both of which are somewhere in my storage room down the hall.
• [5/8] Then, you need to collect [3 Fairy Dust] by defeating Fairies in the Ruined Courtyard. Pick up [2 Wrinklefig Lvl. 1] while you're there. You'll need those as well.
• [6/8] You can use those 4 ingredients to brew the [1 Hogsworth Pride Potion] here in the classroom.
• [7/8] Also, to get around fast, try giving your [1 Specialist's Speedy Solution] a test run or two.
• [8/8] Well, what are you waiting for? Go go go!
  

Objective 9 - Search Storage Room

Description

Find [1 Crystalised Pride] and [1 Hogsworth Stream Water] by searching the crates in the Professor's storage room down the hall from the Potions Classroom.

Dialogue

• [1/4] Hey there! Oh... Did Professor Koa forget to give you the keys to the storage room?
• [2/4] My goodness, he's always doing that! He probably lost them... If I'm being honest with you.
• [3/4] No worries, though! Now would be a good time to practice your Avomora spell. Y'a know, the one that opens locked doors.
• [3/4] Use your Avomora spell on the door!

Objective 10 - Search Ruined Courtyard

Description

Head to the Ruined Courtyard to collect [2 Wrinklefig Lvl. 1] and collect [3 Fairy Dust] by defeating the Fairies. Using [1 Specialist's Speedy Solvent] can help get you there quicker. Give it a try!

Dialogue

• [1/2] Glad you were able to find the Ruined Courtyard alright. Remember, you need [3 Fairy Dust]and [2 Wrinklefig Lvl. 1].
• [2/2] Come back to me once you have those so I can Appareo us back to the lesson!

Objective 11 - Brew Potion

Description

Head back to the Potions Classroom and use [1 Crystallised Pride], [1 Hogsworth Stream Water], [2 Wrinklefig Lvl. 1], and [3 Pixie Dust] to brew [1 Hogsworth Pride Potion].

Dialogue

• [1/2] Well done collecting those ingredients. Gives you a taste of the real world, doesn't it?
• [2/2] Alright, let's head back!

Objective 12 - Return to Professor Koa

Description

Head to the Ruined Courtyard to collect [2 Wrinklefig Lvl. 1] and collect [3 Fairy Dust] by defeating the Fairies. Using [1 Specialist's Speedy Solvent] can help get you there quicker. Give it a try!

• [1/3] You've done well, [player username]. You've got a long way to go, but I sense a true potioneer in you.
• [2/3] It's been a pleasure meeting you. I look forward seeing you in future Potions lessons.
• [3/3] Oh! I almost forgot... You get to keep this marvellous potion of yours. You've earned it.

Objective 13 - Talk to Jeremiah

Description

Speak with Jeremiah about the lesson before heading to your next one.

Dialogue

• [1/4] That was... hard. I can't believe we had to brew all those potions.
• [2/4] Who cares if it was a Potions lesson?! It was still a lot.
• [3/4] At least the Professor wasn't too mean. Anyways, ready to head to our next lesson?
• [4/4] Remember to use your [Class Schedule] to get there. I'll meet you there!

Tips

• Remember to use potions to help find ingredients. They can give a jump boost or speed depending on which one is used.
• The Avomora spell looks like a key.
• In the storage room, look for the ingredients that sparkle. Those are the ones to click on!
