Academic Credits

Academic Credits, commonly referred to as AC or ACs, are a form of currency on Potterworld used to earn experience and Gold. To check how many Academic Credits one currently has, a player can check their own overall balance by using the /bal, /ac, /balance, or /money commands.

Earning Academic Credits

There are multiple ways to earn Academic Credits, all of which are listed below.

Classes

Attending classes awards Academic Credits upon completion. In live classes, players will complete an activity such as duelling, flying, or writing a story. Once this is done to a passing standard, a player is provided with AC.

Weekly Assignments

Outside of the live in-game classes, assignments can be completed on the website forums once weekly. These Weekly Assignments are released every Sunday and players have the week to submit their assignment and receive AC.

Voting Daily Reward

In /me under “Daily Activities”, there is an activity called “Voting”. If a player votes on at least three of the websites provided in /vote, 10 Academic Credits can be claimed.

Extra Credit

In /me under “Daily Activities”, there is an activity called “Extra Credit”. This taskboard lets players earn additional Academic Credits upon attending classes. The repeatable tasks do not expire and reset upon reward redemption.

Voting Tokens

Voting Tokens received from voting can be transferred into Academic Credits. The Token Shop NPC in the Trophy Room down the stairs behind the professor’s table in the Great Hall can make this transaction. The rate currently from Voting Tokens to Academic Credits is 180 Voting Tokens to 10 Academic Credits.

Feedback Forms

The Poltergeist Team releases periodic feedback forms on the Potterworld MC Discord server or on the Official Feedback Forms & Polls section of the forums. By filling this out before its closing date, players can earn additional AC if they do not remain anonymous.

Using Academic Credits

There are two uses for Academic Credits: Gold and experience.

Gold

Transferring Academic Credits for Gold is a good source of income if one is a graduate or attends many classes. The Credit Trader NPC in the Trophy Room is used to make this conversion. The rate currently from Academic Credits to Gold is 10 Academic Credits for 200 Gold.

Experience

Trading in Academic Credits is one of the many ways for a player to earn experience to level up and further their path on Potterworld. The Credit Trader NPC in the Trophy Room is used to trade in Academic Credits for experience. In the /me menu, there is access to the Credit Trader as well. The rate depends on the player's year, and the amount of experience received will increase as the player levels up.

The table below details how much experience a player receives from trading AC at a certain level.

History

Academic Credits used to serve a different purpose up until 2018. Players previously would use Academic Credits to purchase spells. Therefore, this also made them the only way to progress through the years.

Academic Credits also used to be a physical currency. However, in 2016, Academic Credits along with other currencies were changed to a digital form. The physical version still exists, but cannot be used. Many players find it as a nice keepsake and tradable item.
