Overview

Dragons are Level 78, aggressive mobs on Potterworld. They are currently located in the abandoned research facilities in Greenshore Harbour which is off the coast of Gnollberg Port. While their exclusive mob drops are not required in any quests, you may encounter them during the A Tattered Tale, Scaly Suspicions, Investigative Research, and Calming the Beast quests.

Dragons are large, magical, fire-breathing creatures. They are excellent fliers and are able to soar through the skies with ease due to their large wingspan of three meters. These creatures also have a length of at least two and a half meters from their snout to their tail. There are four different known breeds of Dragons that have been identified by the magical community: Emerald, Snouthorn, Fireball, and Thorntail. Each of these breeds have a different appearance and colour than the others. Emerald Dragons are half dark green and half cream with white horns on the top of their heads. Snouthorns are maroon and cream in colour with a cream-coloured horn on their nose. Fireball Dragons are red in colour with light yellow hair in the appearance of a lion’s mane. Additionally, they also have two yellow whiskers that look similar to a moustache. Lastly, Thorntails are two different shades of brown and have spines on their backs and tails.

Behaviour & Defence

Upon entering the research facilities, Dragons will begin to spawn and immediately attack a player due to their aggressive behaviour. While these creatures do not move extremely fast initially, they will begin to fly more quickly after being hit with a spell and have abilities that allow them to quickly teleport a short distance and deal damage to a player farther away.

Dragons have a total of 5125 HP each. Their basic attack deals 1025 damage and they have four special abilities known as swipe, firestorm, dash, and fireball. After being hit with a spell, a Dragon may choose to use one of these four abilities against the player. Their swipe attack is a special ability that swipes at a player and deals 1537 damage. The Dragon may then use their firestorm attack which is an AOE (Area of Effect) ability that deals an initial hit of 1537 damage and then sets the player on fire; without a proper spell to put this flame out, the fire tick damage can deal up to 1923 total damage to a player. These creatures also have a dash ability that allows them to quickly teleport towards a player and attack while also setting them on fire; this attack deals an initial hit of 1537 damage and can deal up to 1836 total damage. Finally, a Dragon might charge up their fireball attack and shoot out a missile dealing an initial hit of 1537 damage and setting a player on fire to deal up to 1923 total damage.

Multiple Dragons can spawn at a time and all fly towards a certain player. This can quickly get overwhelming, as they can deal quite a bit of damage through fire. Continuously strafing and keeping a distance helps to avoid both their basic and special attacks. It is also important to have good gear as well as healing and flame-dousing spells on hand in order to survive and defeat these creatures.

A Dragon’s diet consists of a variety of different creatures ranging from small rabbits to even humans. However, they prefer to eat livestock such as sheep and cows, as one of these smaller creatures will give them enough food to last a week. Hay can be incorporated into their diet as well if they are in captivity. These creatures are powerful and successful hunters due to their claws and insanely sharp fangs. The claws of a Dragon are used to snatch up any prey and are even able to slash through and puncture flesh. It is also rumoured that their fangs are sharper than an actual sword which allows them to easily overpower another creature.

Dragons can be extremely dangerous creatures when first encountered and will intimidate anything they come into contact with using piercing eyes and sharp claws. This is because, if they feel threatened, they will emit a deafening roar that can be heard from miles away and might even conjure flames to spew from their mouth. While these flames are initially only used to burn and scare away the threat, a Dragon will eventually attack the person or creature threatening them. Even though these fire-breathing creatures are dangerous, they can be tamed if one knows the correct way to do so. The process of taming a Dragon can be tedious and has to be done in a delicate way. An individual first must walk up to this creature and bow to show that they mean no harm. Afterwards, they will be allowed to approach and begin to bond with the Dragon. Grooming is an activity that will greatly increase and strengthen this bond. However, different parts of this creature are a lot more sensitive than others and therefore must be groomed more delicately. Once a Dragon has successfully been tamed, they will eventually let the individual who earned their trust pet them and possibly even ride them in rare instances.

Habitat

It is unknown where specifically Dragons are native from. However, they are currently found wandering around and living among the abandoned research facilities in Greenshore Harbour. At some point, many Dragons were captured, tortured and experimented on by numerous researchers. While they were kept in the research facilities located in Greenshore Harbour and off the coast of Gnollberg Port, these creatures were able to break free and ended up destroying the local buildings and houses. Because of this event, many of the Dragons can still be found on the grounds of these abandoned facilities. Additionally, Puffing Pod Lvl. 70 plant nodes can be found scattered within and around the buildings where these creatures reside.

Defeat

As a Level 78 mob, Dragons have the chance of dropping Level 71-80 broom materials as well as exclusive mob drops. These drops include Iron Footholds, Elder Handle, Leather Handlewraps, and Straw Bristles as well as Dragon Scale, Dragon Dung, and Dragon Heart. Additionally, like most other types of Lvl 71-80 mobs, they also have a rare chance of dropping Lvl 71-80 Gear Pieces and Broom Recipes. Materials such as Footholds, Handle, Handlewraps, and Bristles can play a part in crafting such recipes into brooms. While their exclusive mob drops are not required in any quests, they can be used in the crafting of profession items such as the Puffing Pod Fudge VIII, Jester's Stew VIII, Jester's Tea VIII, Transformation Tonic VIII, Puffing Pod, Fudge IX, Jester's Stew IX, Jester's Tea IX, Transformation Tonic IX.
