Overview

The golden cauldron was unearthed at Stonehenge, England. The cauldron is currently at Hogsworth where it is being studied by Headmaster Droobledore and a few curious professors. It will soon be transported to London to be further examined by magical archaeologists.

Description

Despite being buried deep beneath the ancient stone formation of Stonehenge, the cauldron showed hardly any signs of age or rust upon its excavation. When the dirt and mud was cleared off of it, the cauldron was a brilliant, dazzling shade of gold. The cauldron is covered with engravings of what appear to be Thunderhawks – similar to those within the mountain tops nearby (though these engravings show a more primitive version of Thunderhawks than those seen today). It looked as if it had only just been purchased. If not for the residue of potions from centuries past lingering inside of it – or the fact that it was buried ten feet beneath undisturbed grass – those who discovered it might have assumed it was buried there as a joke to confuse magical archaeologists.

History

Not much is known about the history of this cauldron. Magical archaeologists estimate that it is at least 500 years old. Cauldrons like the one found at Stonehenge have not been seen or used for quite some time, adding to the mystery of this new discovery. Perhaps, if found anywhere else, the location might provide a clue or two regarding the history of the cauldron. However, Stonehenge itself has an even cloudier history and provides no additional insights.

Letter of Discovery

My dear brother,

You’ll never believe what I’ve discovered in those old ruins I wrote to you about a few months ago. I know you told me to focus on my studies, but I felt drawn to this place. It took me quite some time to truly understand why, but I could feel it deep within me. It almost felt like a gravitational pull that beckoned me to look deeper. You must think I sound mad, but I was right!

My friends and I spent over an hour digging until we found it: a golden cauldron! It took some scrubbing, but we managed to get all the dirt and mud off of it. It’s in remarkable shape for something that appears to have been buried for a long time. It has a very strange aura to it. It’s almost as if I can sense the power that it once held. We gave the cauldron to the Headmaster, and he said he will inform us of any news.

Even after removing the cauldron, the ruins still call to me. There is an ancient power here that I cannot ignore, just as I told you in my previous letters. I will write to you as soon as I hear anything about my little excavation!

Your ever curious sister,

Tariyah
