Overview
The Boat Captain’s boat has broken down due to a storm. Meet him at the river near Appleby Village to lend a hand in mending his boat. After that, try first-hand navigation as you steer his boat to Riddleyard.
Quest Progression
To begin this quest, speak to the Boat Captain NPC at the river near Appleby Village.
Dialogue
Before accepting
[1/3] Woah there. You alright? I've seen corpses in better conditions than how you look.
[2/3] You got caught up out that storm that swept through? It completely messed up my boat on my route to the Riddleyard.
[3/3] How's this - you help me fix this boat, and I'll take you to Riddleyard so you can clean yourself up there. Do we have a deal?
After accepting
[1/2] Superb. Let's get right on it then. I'll try to untangle the rigging, but could you go and find Willow in Appleby? She's an old friend, so she should be willing to lend you some tools to repair the boat.
[2/2] You're looking for [1 Carpenter's Axe] and [1 Carpenter's Hammer].
Objective 1 - Speak to Willow
Description
Speak to Willow, a young woman who lives in the house furthest north in Appleby Village, north of the broken boat.
Dialogue
[1/3] Oh! Almost didn't see you there. What can I do for you?
[2/3] Ah, you're here for some tools to repair a boat. I'm a little preoccupied, but feel free to head into the storage room and help yourself to whatever you need. You may need to put a few pieces together though.
[3/3] Once you have your tools, feel free to take them and head back to the boat.
Objective 2 - Retrieve the tools from Willow
Description
Unlock the door to the storage room inside Willow's house where she has stored her tool parts. Collect the tool parts and craft the tools at the downstairs crafting bench, before returning to the Boat Captain at [4880 3 4526].
Objective 3 - Collect wood to create planks
Description
Obtain [3 Wood Log] from the trees to the west of the broken boat. Once you do, return to the Boat Captain at [4880 3 4526]&7 and use the crafting table next to him to turn [3 Wood Log] into [3 Wood Plank].
Dialogue
Returning with tools
[1/2] Ah! You're finally back. Well, now we'll need to get to repairing the actual ship.
[2/2] What I'll need you to do is to use those tools to get [3 Wood Log] from the trees to the north of the boat. Return to the boat and use the crafting table on the boat to make [3 Wood Plank]. Once you've got that, return to me.
Returning with logs
[1/2] You've got them! Now comes the hard part. I'm still getting the rigging ready, so you'll have to do this on your own.
[2/2] You should be able to see where the boat has taken damage. Use [3 Wood Planks], [3 Iron Nail], [1 Carpenter's Axe], and [1 Carpenter's Hammer] to repair the boat. Hurry! We don't have a second to lose!
Objective 4 - Repair the boat
Description
Repair the broken boat using [3 Wood Plank], [3 Iron Nail], [1 Carpenter's Axe], and [1 Carpenter's Hammer]. Speak to the Boat Captain at [4880 3 4526] after you make the repairs.
Dialogue
[1/2] There we go! Everything is looking to be in tip-top shape. Let’s hope this boat doesn't sink on the way there...
[2/2] Say, since you've done a great job so far, how about you steer the boat! Here we go!
Description
Pick the correct directions in order to navigate the river successfully to get to the docking point near Riddleyard.
Dialogue
[1/2] Aaaanndddd here we are! You made it in one piece... and so did the ship. Mostly.
[2/2] At least you helped me get her up and running again. Thank you for that. In return, if you ever want to head between Riddleyard and Appleby, you know where to find me!
Tips
If you have trouble finding the Boat Captain, try following the river which flows through the Poison Toads spawn and turning left once the river ends.
The tools in Willow’s house are located on the top floor of the building, use the ladder to reach the storage room.
For the correct combination of the storage room, follow the pattern of the carpet on the floor.
When looking for the logs, try searching for them in trees nearest to the boat.
Remember the navigation pattern so that it will become easier with multiple tries.
