Overview

The Halloween in Haunted Hollow event lasted from October 31st to December 2nd, 2020. Players were able to traverse around Haunted Hollow, explore the annual Halloween celebration at this spooky town, and purchase exclusive rewards as well as explore other new gameplay features. This event also included the release of a new seasonal store item.

Storyline

For centuries, Haunted Hollow has allowed magical creatures and monsters to live peacefully, away from the threat of humans. Consequently, there has been a rough history between magical creatures in Haunted Hollow. This is especially the case since most witches and wizards have not tried to understand them. While residents of the town were hesitant, they allowed players to visit despite being Hogsworth students. By the end of the event, the people of Haunted Hollow realised that the students meant no harm and were there to help by completing quests.

Location

The main event hub was the Haunted Hollow. To get there, players had to speak to a Vampire NPC at the professors' table in Hogsworth’s Great Hall. The Vampire then teleported players to the Haunted Hollow train station. From there, they were able to explore the graveyard, mellow in the pumpkin patch fields, and check out the residences and shops in the town.

Quests

There were six quests made available to players via the quest book. These quests all rewarded the player with Boo Bucks, which could then be used to purchase collectables.

Trick or Treats

To start, players talked to Octavius Ollivard the Third, the town's resident ghost and mayor, at the train station. Octavius asked for assistance making Halloween Baskets for the residents and redirected the player to Leonora, a Vampire NPC at the pumpkin patch on the outskirts of town. Players then needed to gather the needed materials, craft some Trick or Treating Baskets, and place them in the cemetery.

Rhys's Pieces

To start, players talked to Ingrid within her house in town. Ingrid requested help in taking care of the ghoul up in the attic. Players then needed to use Ingrid’s Pickaxe to collect a Hallowed Ore and fix the attic key. Then, after unlocking the attic, players had to locate a vacant home for Rhys the ghoul to move into.

Howl-o-ween

To start, players talked to Orlando, the head of the local Werewolf community, towards the centre of town. He noticed that a child had symptoms of shifting into a Werewolf and asked the player to check in on the situation. Players then found Mrs. Yardbury injured within her house in the central part of town and helped concoct a Magical Ointment. Mrs. Yardbury requested players to track her daughter, Eda, and calm her down with a Ukulele.

The Lost Spectacles

To start, players talked to Roger, the town butcher. Despite being busy preparing for the festivities, he requested that players check on Old Vincent on the outskirts of town and deliver his groceries. Players first needed to search around for groceries that Old Vincent usually bought, assemble them into a Bag of Groceries, and deliver them. After delivering the groceries, players then needed to assist Old Vincent in retrieving his Magical Spectacles from somewhere within a maze-like mansion.

One of Them

To start, players talked to Mason, a Werewolf parent. He requested players to help him find his missing son, Jacon, and pointed towards the Vexlings as the main culprit. Players then had to locate the Vexling’s house and search for Jacon, who ran away from home to become a Vexling.

Murder Mystery

To start, players talked to a Maid outside the count’s mansion. She informed players that the owner of the mansion had been murdered and requested players to assist the hired detective by finding some clues around the house. These clues were then processed at the Forensic Analysis Station. Afterwards, all of the attendees were questioned by players and the culprit was then decided.

Side Quests

There was one side quest during the event. Available every 24 hours, players used Father Jacob’s Proton Pack Vacuum to capture ghosts. Upon completing this side quest, the player was rewarded with Boo Bucks.

Activities

Candy Seller

Scattered throughout the Haunted Hollow were candy bowl nodes, which could be harvested every 24 hours. With every 25 Candies collected, players could then talk to one of the Ghost NPCs in one of the stalls and turn them in for Boo Bucks.

Minigames

There were two seasonal minigames made available for the event. Each gave the player additional Boo Bucks upon its completion.

Halloween Town Make your way through a town infested with ghosts.

Mansion Maze Find your way through the hidden mansion. Maze

Contests

There was one accompanying contest that was hosted alongside the event. On October 16th, 2020, the Halloween-themed writing competition was announced. This required contestants to concoct a short, spooky, and scary campfire story. The submission period lasted until October 24th, 2020, and the winners were announced on November 25th, 2020.

Rewards & Collectables

There were a variety of different event rewards that players were able to obtain throughout the Halloween in Haunted Hollow event.

By talking to Ghost NPCs in vendor huts in town, players could purchase Cosmetic Spells, Scarves, Banners, Heads, or Miscellaneous items with Boo Bucks. These tokens were earned by participating in /games, the seasonal minigames, completing the quests, or collecting candy nodes.
