May the Fourth 2024

Overview

The May the Fourth 2024 event took place from 4 May to 1 June, 2024. Players participated in main quests, side quests, themed minigames, and activities to earn Star Tokens and Beskar, which were redeemable for rewards. For returning players from the May the Fourth 2023 event, some 2024 rewards were not purchasable if they had already purchased them in 2023.

Storyline

There was no overarching storyline for the event. However, there was a Rebels versus Imperials subplot.

Location

Players started their journey into hyperspace by boarding the Millennium Falcon parked outside Hogsworth’s Boathouse. After heading upstairs and launching the ship, they could select a target destination via the galaxy map. Visitable locations within the Galaxy’s Edge included Batuu, which served as a hub on the planet for the event; Ilum, with kyber crystal caverns; Nevarro, where the Mandalorians reside; Tatooine, for pod racing; Naboo, where the Gungans live; and Earth.

Quests

There was no introductory quest. However, there were two main quests, each rewarding Star Tokens, Beskar, and a large amount of Experience.

Till the Spire

The Empire was searching for Doma Vane after the destruction of the Death Star, and she needed help finding the Rebels somewhere in Black Spire before they left the planet. By using a Smugglers Kit to get in contact with the Rebels, intelligence was obtained around Batuu in turn for a nice payout. There were four modes – Scan, Hack, Translate, and Tune – which, after completing an associated activity, rewarded part of a cryptic message.

Since the initial intel gathered mentioned Ondar, Black Spire Bar owner Dok-Ondar revealed that he would not trade a star chart with Gar Cardar unless a payment was made. After offering a hidden crystal in exchange, Gar offered transportation from Batuu’s Launching Bay to the Rebel hideout for the player and Doma in exchange for the star chart.

During this transportation, Gar’s ship was damaged by Imperial TIE fighters. Unfortunately, the hyperdrive of Gar’s ship broke during this fight. Upon blasting three of the fighters to bits, Gar had an emergency landing in Mos Eisley on Tatooine. To repair the hyperdrive, 3000 credits were needed. Luckily, the weekly Star Racing Tournament rewarded the winner with 2900 credits. Vyna Melne, the tournament’s host, had the player upgrade their speeder’s speed and/or stamina before starting the race, and then players rode their powered speeder’s around Tatooine

After winning, Doma retrieved the player since Imperials were on the hunt and the group headed back to Batuu to meet a mechanic. Upon landing, Imperial soldiers stormed the ship, leading to the player taking out 10 Stormtroopers with a Green Lightsaber. For their bravery, the player was welcomed to the Rebellion.

Always a Bigger Fish

Blif-Blif Mes needed an outsider’s help to set up a trap and stop an Aquapolo, a fish-demon of the deep, from attacking the city on Naboo. Players gathered three components: Plasma Waste, from activating all eight biopods around the city; three Boombas, from using a Blaster to shoot targets and reopen the Armoury; and Flying Krillamon bait, from spearfishing at a lake on Batuu with a Lightning Spear. After gathering Metal Scrap from around the city and forging a casing, the trap was set in a lone outer pod for the Aquapolo to take a bite and become poisoned.

Side Quests

There were seven side quests for this event. All involved helping the people around Black Spire Outpost at the Galaxy’s Edge on Batuu. Most side quests could be completed once every 12 hours. All rewarded Star Tokens, Beskar, and a modest amount of Experience.

Babysitting Barthans

At Batuu’s Bantha Barn, Domali Milspra asked for an extra hand to take care of the two Banthas. Following the to-do list, players filled up the Bantha trough with food from the Black Spire Marketplace, washed the Banthas with a sponge, and brushed the Banthas.

Oga’s Cantina

At Oga’s Cantina on Batuu, Oga Garra was up to tentacles in orders and needed help making drinks. Players chose one drink to make, retrieved the respective ingredients, and then concocted it. The drink choices available included: The Blue Bantha, The Green Thala, Jabba’s Juice, Oga’s Obsession, and Black Spire Brew. Afterwards, Oga allowed the player to keep the freshly made drink as a souvenir collectable.

Galactic Starcruiser

Durror Mo offered players a voyage with Chandrilla Star Line’s state-of-the-art ship, the Halcyon, which included amenities and activities to ensure that all voyages were different. Upon receiving a Galactic Starcruiser Ticket, which allowed access to the launch bay, and a Galactic Starcruiser Datapad, which showed what activities were available, the player boarded the ship to start their “choose your own adventure” voyage.

Depending on who the player talked to and helped out, there were six different endings possible: the Romance Ending, the Smuggler Ending, the Rebel Ending, the Empire Ending, and the Crew Ending. By unlocking an ending, a corresponding message on an Ancient Holocron was also unlocked for purchase. There were six different messages available: the Rebel Message, the Empire Message, the Smuggler Message, the Romantic Message, the Crew Message, and the Force Message.

Bounty Hunters of Batuu

A Bounty Kiosk transmission from the Batuu Bounty Hunters Guild called for new members. To prove one’s membership, players received a Bounty Hunter Puck and then located Raga Bua, the Head of the Bounty Hunter’s Guild, behind a secret hideout’s door to receive bounty instructions. Raga transmitted the bounty target to the puck, which was then used to track down the target. After finding the target somewhere on Batuu and turning in the bounty to the kiosk, the player was rewarded.

Lightsaber Training

Ezra Bridger was eager to teach players how to wield a Training Lightsaber and send “those rust buckets” packing back to Coruscant. With a generic description and lacking qualifications, Ezra instructed to try to hit the Force Orbs by “[letting] the force flow through you… or something like that” before time ran out. The more Force Orbs hit, the more rewards received.

Droid Rescue

Mara Solis was far too upset since she lost her droid on the walk home. To help, players navigated through a maze of alleyways on Coruscant and sought out Mara’s droid among all the other droids sitting around. After finding the right droid, Mara thanked and rewarded the player.

The Clumsiest Babysitter

Droid SV3-PB1 was protecting a nest of Porgins, but, somehow, three went missing. Players searched around Batuu for three of the six Porgins: Jackie, a lazy, absentminded, and often hungry Porgin who loved places with food; Melanie, a playful, energetic, and curious Porgin who loved elevated spots; Willy, a cheerful, courageous, and outgoing Porgin who loved being close to water; Olly, a friendly, cooperative, and positive Porgin who loved being around other creatures; Cookie, an outgoing, companionly, and sociable Porgin who loved being near people; and Wallace, a witty, determined, and studious Porgin who loved hanging around machinery. Afterwards, SV3-PB1 thanked the player for the help and gave out rewards.

Activities

Hera’s Missions

Hera Syndulla, pilot of the Ghost, and Chopper the droid, needed assistance locating key supplies and resources scattered throughout the galaxy, especially since the Empire had been tightening its grip. Players solved mission riddles, which led to the whereabouts of these vital supplies, such as Medical Supplies, Armour Weaponry, Blueprints, Clothing, Food Portions, and Starship Pieces. These supplies were then brought back to Hera for a valuable reward. Each riddle solved would reward Star Tokens, and, after solving 18 missions, the Chopper droid cosmetic pet was made purchasable for 500 Star Tokens.

Droid Crafting/Build-A-Droid

After purchasing a Droid-Making Ticket from the Black Spire Marketplace, players then visited the Droid Depot and chose one droid to have as a cosmetic pet. There were three different models to choose from: BB unit, R2-D2, and BD-1. Furthermore, the BB unit spherical droid had nine different colour options: red, orange, original, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, and black.

Mandalorian Forge

On Navarro, Bo-Katan Kryze, a warrior from the planet Mandalore, welcomed players and introduced them to Din Djarin, a teacher on becoming a Mandalorian. He then introduced players to the Armourer at the Mandalorian Forge. The Armourer offered to forge the armour in exchange for the player providing the required amount of Beskar. Besides the Dark Saber, there were four armour pieces; all cost 1000 Beskar. After obtaining all five items in order, two Beskar could be exchanged for one Star Token.

Advanced Smugglers Kit: Unlocking Speeders

After completing the Till the Spire quest, Doma Vane, now in contact with the Rebels, sought intelligence from across the galaxy. Players interested in getting a payout then received an Advanced Smugglers Kit for scanning, hacking, translating, and tuning at their respective nodes. After completing the associated activity, either a Conversation or an Item as intel was unlocked. Upon finding all 30 conversations and 30 items, one Toy Speeder Bike became obtainable at the Black Spire Marketplace.

Ahsoka’s Trials

Former Jedi Ahsoka Tano sought out those up for a challenge to prove themselves. She provided players with eight trials, each of which could be accomplished retroactively. After demonstrating skills in combat, defence, wisdom, and compassion, Ahsoka exchanged a White Kyber Crystal for 300 Star Tokens. This could then be crafted into a White Lightsaber with Cere Junda’s help.

Star Racing

This was one of the three games that was re-added to /games from previous years. Similar to racing on brooms, players raced on speeder bikes on maps featuring different planets such as Endor, Mos Eisley, Hoth, and Mustafar.

Star Battle: Domination

This was one of the three games that was re-added to /games from previous years. Players were divided into two teams: Rebels versus Imperials. Rebels chose between 13 different kits: Rifleman, Pistolier, Bowman, Recon, Flame Trooper, Grenadier, Operative, Oppressor, Sharpshooter, Riot Trooper, Bomberman, Shaggy Dog, and Medic. Imperials also had 13 kits to choose from: Storm Soldier, Pistolier, Bowman, Recon, Flame Trooper, Grenadier, Operative, Oppressor, Sharpshooter, Riot Trooper, Bomberman, Shaggy Dog, and Medic. The premise was to capture more control points than the opposing team before time ran out.

Star Battle: Escort Payload

This was one of the three games that was re-added to /games from previous years. Similar to Star Battle: Domination, players were divided into two teams, Rebels versus Imperials, and both had 13 kits each to choose from. Rebels needed to escort a payload to the end of the map, while Imperials attacked relentlessly to hasten Rebel’s progress until time ran out.

Contests

There was a return of a Star Battle Tournament for this year’s event. It was announced on 5 May, and it was held from 6 May to 19 May. Two minigames were featured: Escort Payload and Star Racing. There were two separate leaderboards for each gamemode, with players earning points by winning Escort Payload or by racing in Star Racing. The winners were announced on 4 June. Rewards given out included: a temporary Champion prefix, a temporary cosmetic hat, cosmetic wand particles, Arena Tokens, Gold, and collectables.

Rewards & Collectables

The following table details all event rewards and collectables that were obtainable during this event. Most were purchased using Star Tokens and Beskar. However, some were obtained via activities. Finishing all of Hera’s Missions unlocked the Chopper cosmetic pet. Collecting all Advanced Smugglers Kit conversations and items unlocked a Toy Speeder Bike. Reaching a specific ending on the Galactic Starcruiser unlocked a corresponding message on the Ancient Holocron. Finishing Ahsoka’s Trials allowed the White Lightsaber to be crafted.

Players could obtain Lightsaber collectables by forging collected components together, by completing Ahsoka’s Trials on Batuu, or by purchasing with Beskar at the Mandalorian Forge on Navarro. The forging process was the same as last year’s May the Fourth event.

Lightsabers were crafted from two main components: a hilt and kyber crystal. Hilts were constructed in Cere Junda’s Workshop on Batuu from the following components: Chassis, Emitter Matrix, Sleeve Casing, Activation Switch, Pommel Endcap, and Grip Plating. Coloured kyber crystals were obtained from caverns on Planet Ilum with Nightsister Merrin’s help. Nodes in the cave had a chance of shattering; however, if it did not, players completed a sequence minigame where they needed to cleanse, channel, harmonise, and focus. Upon completing 20 stages, the player received a random Red, Yellow, Green, or Blue Kyber Crystal. After crafting the corresponding hilt and obtaining a coloured kyber crystal, a player could fuse the two parts to create a Lightsaber.
