Potterworld's 7th Anniversary 2021

Overview

Potterworld’s 7th Anniversary event took place from May 18th to June 19th in 2021. This event was in celebration of Potterworld being released to the public 7 years prior. Throughout this event, players were able to re-visit past events that took place in Potterworld’s history.

Storyline

Players met with Kevin who revealed that something shady had happened at the Ministry and that he needed help figuring out the issue. The player was taken to the Clock Room in the Department of Mysteries where the Ministry had determined that the problem most likely had something to do with time. The player then received a Temporal Turner to help investigate the rooms associated with the past.

Location

The event was accessed through a Kevin NPC in the Great Hall of Hogsworth. When clicking on the NPC, the player would be taken to the Clock Room in the Department of Mysteries. In this room, there were six rooms that represented previous events on the server where the player could go to travel back to these events.

Quests

Seven quests could be completed by players during the 7th Anniversary event. Each quest was based on a previous event on the server and could be teleported to using a Temporal Turner. An item known as Temporal Sand was used to unlock each location. There were various ways in which a player was able to obtain the sand and it was also tradable with other players.

The New Wing

This is the first quest encountered by players during the event and the only one that did not require the player to spend Temporal Sand to unlock it. The player began the quest by speaking to the second Kevin NPC in the Clock Room. This quest was a way to help introduce the Temporal Turner and Temporal Sand to players. During the quest, the player had to gather 5 Temporal Sand from the nodes found around the Clock Room and use them to unlock Dormunstrad.

A Frozen Fortress

After the player unlocked Dormunstrad, they were able to start this quest. The A Frozen Fortress quest was based on the 2019 Winter Waltz event in Dormunstrad. The player had to speak to Dragomir, who explained that the castle had once again been taken over by an unknown force. The player then had to obtain Cursed Ice Shards from Cursed Ice mobs in the castle, Bluefyre Ashes from Fyre Fiends on the ice river, Bells of Dormunstrad from flowers next to the school, and Enchanted Icicles from the frozen river. Once they gathered everything, they were able to craft the Bluefyre at the Bluefyre Forge. They then used the Bluefyre to free the school from the unknown force.

Trickington Terrors

After the player unlocked Trickington they were able to start this quest. The Trickington Terrors quest was based on the 2018 Halloween event. An NPC named Aggie greeted the player in Trickington and mentioned that one of the Chief Auralock’s followers had been causing mayhem. She also mentioned that three residents of Trickington had gone missing. Aggie then gave the player an address book to help find the residents’ houses. At the houses, the player was given views of a short cutscene showing what had happened to the resident. After the player completed a short quiz, they confronted the Warlock who was responsible for the mayhem. The player then had to free three monsters by completing a maze, defeating a headless horseman with a pumpkin launcher, and electrocuting Frankenstein's monster.

Cracks in Time

After the player unlocked Hogsend, they were able to start this quest. This quest was based on the 2018 Butterbrew Festival event. The player found a Temporal Turner on the ground which allowed them to follow particles leading to the Clocksmith’s shop. At the shop, the Clocksmith asked the player to collect Temporal Sand from inside the shop, the Golden Nugget from outside the gates of Hogsend, and Glass Shards from an alley behind Honeysweets. The Golden Nugget and Glass Shards both required the player to dig through snow via a GUI. After the player returned to the Clocksmith’s shop, they had to perform a sequence in order to create an Hourglass which they gave to the Clocksmith.

Carnival Conundrum

After the player unlocked the Fantastical Carnival they were able to start this quest. This quest was based on the 2017 Carnival event. The player had to speak to the Carnival Master to begin this quest and was then sent to the Fortune Teller. The Fortune Teller at the back of the carnival gave the player a drink and told them to look into her crystal ball, after which the player spoke to a mysterious figure. The figure revealed that the Carnival Master had stolen a temporal artefact known as an Eye from them and asked for your help in finding and destroying it. The figure then showed the player three different events in their future timeline that they needed to prevent. There was a book with three bookmarks that the player had to click and complete each scenario. The first bookmark teleported the player into a cage in which they had to find a way to escape. After finding a Ring of Fire potion, they then had to push the potion through the bars. The second bookmark required the player to select the lock on a Manticore cage to calm creatures down. For the third bookmark, the player had to pass through a carnival booth and complete the different challenges in each station. At the end, the player walked through a large clown mouth to continue. After completing the different bookmarks, the player was turned into a turtle and put into a cage that they had to break out of. Then, the player had to retrace their steps until they found the carnival ring, at which point they could obtain the Eye by entering a password, and destroy it.

Broken Records

After the player unlocked the Fine Arts Festival, they were able to start this quest. This quest was based on the 2016 Fine Arts event. The Festival Director revealed that everything at the event was going wrong and asked for the player's assistance. After talking to an NPC named Sean, the player had to tune a guitar’s strings to the given notes. The player then spoke with Arianna on the stage and put the wire pieces into the correct order. On the opposite side of the map, there was a record player that the player had to clean and put the stylus in the middle of the record. Once the player returned to the Festival Director and let him know that the record player was restored, the quest was completed.

One Last Time

After the player unlocked the Survival Spawn Closing Ceremony they were able to start this quest. This quest was based on the 2015 Survival event. Mayor Mavis explained to the player that the survival realm was collapsing in on itself and invited them to join in on the closing ceremony. First, the player needed to find Bartender Billie in The Moose Inn and drink a butterbrew. Then, once the player heard a mysterious voice, they had to go to the Wand Maker’s House to speak to Sorcerer Sparrow and investigate the voice. He instructed the player to craft a new wand by collecting an Elder Branch from the Elder Tree in town and a Wand Core that Sparrow had given the player. After this, the player spoke to Farmer Francisca to start the Bun Run time trial where they needed to feed 15 bunnies within 2 minutes. The player then talked to Thane Theodocia to learn how to get back home, learning that they had to pass through the Gauntlet and kill Warlocks first. Adventurer Alejandro revealed that they had to complete the Elemental parkour to get their wand back. All of these steps necessitated the player interacting with their wand to move on. Finally, the player had to speak to Jaybles and watch a final cutscene from Survival’s closing.

Side Quests

There were nine side quests in total for this event that players could complete daily.

Tasty Treats

Located in Butterbrew 2018, players had to speak to Kevin and were told to make a butterbrew in the kitchen of The Broomsticks Inn.

Cleaning Craze

Located in Butterbrew 2018, players had to speak to the Chef NPC, who was located in the kitchen. The Chef told them that The Broomsticks Inn had to be cleaned. The player then had to get the cleaning supplies on the second floor and clean the area.

Glass Hunt

Located in Butterbrew 2018, players had to speak to the Bartender who asked them to help him collect empty butterbrew glasses around Hogsend. The glasses could be then be traded for Event Tokens after completing the side quest.

Party Preferences

Located in Butterbrew 2018, players had to speak to the Mayor who asked them to make a firework. The player then had to craft a firework after going to the party goods store.

Demoxie Problems

Located in Butterbrew 2018, players had to speak to Jack who explained that there had been issues with a Demoxie infestation around Hogsend and asked that they help in sorting it out. Players then had to find the alley that the Demoxies were located in and kill them.

Painter’s Fever

Located in Fine Arts 2017, players had to speak to Vincent and choose which piece of art they wanted to make. They then had to go to one of the work stations and complete a sequence in order to create their piece of art.

Cooking Frenzy

Located in Winter Waltz 2019, players had to speak to the Chef NPC in the kitchens and choose which food they wanted to bake. They then had to collect ingredients from around the kitchen and use the oven to cook it.

Ducktivities

Located in the 2017 Carnival, players had to use a fishing pole to grab as many rubber ducks as possible within the time limit. The player could then trade the rubber ducks for extra Event Tokens.

A Ranger’s Skill

Located in the 2017 Carnival, players had to speak to Ranger Rick to receive a toy gun. They then had to shoot down 20 of the targets in the booth in order to complete the side quest.

Activities

Magical Maze

Players could start the maze by speaking to the Auralock at the end of the hall in the Clock Room. They then received a special wand that had a variety of spells which would help them get through the maze. There was an NPC at the end of the maze that gave the player a Temporal Scarf. However, players could not get multiple of this scarf by completing the maze multiple times.

Sand Nodes

There were 20 nodes that could be found throughout the Clock Room. Each would provide one Temporal Sand that players could put into their Temporal Turner to unlock more locations.

Time Tinkering Troubles

There were 5 nodes that could be found throughout Dormunstrad. When these nodes were clicked, they would give Toy Pieces, which could be traded for rewards at the Jonathan NPC.

Minigames

There were a variety of minigames that players could complete to earn Event Tokens and Temporal Sand. For every event token a player received from completing a minigame, they would earn 1 Temporal Fragment. 10 Temporal Fragments could be turned into 1 Temporal Sand. Contests

On May 15th, a contest running in coordination with the 7th Anniversary event was announced. Players would have to submit a photo and a short writing piece with the prompt "Why do you think players have enjoyed this server for all these years?". The contest ended on May 29th and the winners were announced on June 4th.

Rewards & Collectables

Rewards were available to be purchased with Event Tokens from the Droobledore NPC in the Clock Room. However, some items were only available for purchase after unlocking all six locations in the Temporal Turner.
