Quabbleball at St. Patrick's Day 2019

Overview

The 2019 St. Patrick’s Day event was hosted in Ireland from March 15th to April 1st, 2019. The event had several exclusive rewards and collectables, as well as introductory quests regarding the various positions in the newly-added game featured in the event: Quabbleball.

Storyline

This event’s storyline was entirely centred around Ireland’s Quabbleball team. Players first spoke to the Coach NPC in the Great Hall Courtyard in order to learn about the event they were headed towards, then travelled to Ireland to meet the team. There, they had to learn the skills of various Quabbleball positions.

Location

The St. Patrick’s Day event in 2019 was located in what some people call the Quabbleball capital of the world: Ireland. While the pitch itself was where most of the event and quests took place, the Great Hall Courtyard was still decorated as beautifully as ever. For this March event, the Build Team placed a pot overflowing with gold in the centre of the schoolyard, and a handful of practice hoops for all the excited students to get into the new extracurricular activity. There was even a Butterbrew stand in the courtyard, and more than a few students got dizzy as a result.

Quests

Four quests were made for the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day. All of these had the player complete various tasks in order to perfect their skills in each of the Quabbleball positions.

Bruiser Tutorial

The Bruiser Tutorial quest was introduced by Aidan. Aidan called out to players from afar, hoping to help them out with learning to be a Bruiser during their time at the pitch in Ireland. First, he showed them where to find a Bruiser’s Bat to practice with, and even offered himself as target practice while they learned how to use the bat to knock other players off their brooms. Then, he taught the players how to use a Bludgeon Ball.

Defender Tutorial

The Defender Tutorial quest was introduced by Connor, a Defender who considered his position to be the most serious of all those on the team. He taught players how to left-click to put up a shield and defend their goal, as well as how to steal the ball from other players with a swift right-click. Despite taking his position more seriously than some consider necessary, Connor’s soft spot for other Defenders helped players out.

Passer Tutorial

Siobhan, a passer with a thick, Irish accent, is the NPC who greeted players trying to learn the Passer position. First, she explained the rules of the game for Passers, and then walked the players through the Passer moves: right-click to pick up a fallen ball, but left-click to steal it from another Passer. Once Siobhan was satisfied with the player’s skills, she sent them off to enjoy learning more about Quabbleball on their own.

Searcher Tutorial

Players found the Searcher, Danielle, at the Quabbleball pitch, where she called out to them, asking if they would like to learn how to be a Searcher. Danielle showed them how to catch a Golden Snidget by left-clicking, and how to knock the other team’s Searcher off a broom by right-clicking. Once Danielle was satisfied that they understood the position’s basic moves and rules, Danielle sent the players off.

Side Quests

There were no side quests during this event.

Activities

There were both daily activities and challenges that were available during the 2019 St. Patrick's Day event. While both rewarded players with Gold, certain challenges also rewarded special collectables. Many of them were entirely centred around Quabbleball.
