Summer Beach Party 2021

Overview

For the 2021 Summer Beach Party event, which occurred from July 17th, 2021 through August 7th, 2021, players were able to have some fun in the sun and complete summer-themed gameplay. Exclusive rewards were available for purchase, including a new Sand Bucket Handbag, and there was a Visual Arts Competition.

Storyline

There was no overarching storyline for the event.

Location

The main event hub was at an entirely new build. To get there, players talked to the Summer Beach Party NPC near the entrance to Hogsworth’s Great Hall and were transported via an underwater tunnel to one of the Tiki Huts. At the build, along the sandy shore were palm trees, Tiki Torches, Tiki Huts, a Tiki Bar, a beach volleyball court, a lifeguard station, a wooden dock, and a boat. Turtles slowly roamed around along the water, and birds flocked above. The Kelpie Rescue Facility was accessible via boat, and it featured a Kelpie pen, a supplies tent, and a Magizoologist workspace tent on the beach.

Quests

There were no quests in the event.

Side Quests

There were a total of two, repeatable side quests for the event. Each could be completed once every twelve hours and awarded players Event Tokens.

Kelpie Care

To start, players talked to Zander, a Magizoologist, by the wooden docks. He was taking care of a Kelpie; however, he was going out of town on some business and needed help taking care of the Kelpie for a few days. After accepting, players headed to the boat to get to the Kelpie Rescue Facility where Zander left care instructions on his desk. There were several different tasks that players could help with at a time: gaining the Kelpie’s trust by carefully approaching him, cleaning up the Kelpie’s pen, giving the Kelpie a wash, preparing some Kelpie Food from Raw Fish, Toad Meat, and a Carrot, feeding him, and taking the Kelpie out for an underwater ride.

Beach Cleanup

To start, players talked to the Conservationist standing on the balcony of one of the Tiki Huts. As a fellow Magizoologist concerned for the Kelpies’ welfare, they were concerned about all of the litter on the beach that was dropped by visiting Hogsworth students. Sometimes, Kelpies could mistakenly eat the litter and become very sick. Players had to clean up as much litter as possible in under a minute, and there was a total of 20 pieces of litter able to be collected. Afterwards, 5 pieces of litter could be exchanged at the Conservationist for 2 Event Tokens, or those pieces could be exchanged for the contribution of 1 bag of litter towards a player’s house for the House points Competition.

Activities

House Points Competition

Players helped keep the beach clean by picking up litter in the Beach Cleanup side quest. In turn, the Conservationist created a competition: the house that collected the most bags of litter for the event’s duration would receive a House point bonus. First place would be awarded 300 House points, second place would get 150 House points, and third place would receive 75 House points. The competition ended with the event’s end on August 7th, 2021, and the results were announced on August 15th, 2021 with Raven securing first place, Honeybadger obtaining second place, and Serpent earning third place.

Minigames

There were three seasonal minigames made available for the event. Each could be started at certain areas along the beach, and all gave the player additional Event Tokens upon completion.

There were also three new maps added to /games.

Daily Taskboard

For the event, players had the option to complete a unique set of six Daily Challenges off the taskboard. These challenges involved participating in minigames and games, and they provided additional Event Tokens upon collection. At midnight Pacific Standard Time (PST), the taskboard was reset and was able to be completed once more.

Contests

There was a Summer Visual Arts Competition. Players had until August 1st, 2021 to submit one piece of original artwork that depicts a summer day at the beach. The top three winners were announced on August 7th, 2021.

Rewards & Collectables

There were a variety of different event items that players were able to obtain throughout the 2021 Summer Beach Party. 

By talking to various NPCs at the Tiki Huts or the Tiki Bar on the beach, players could have purchased a variety of Collectables, Banners, Heads, an all-new Collectable Beaded Handbag, and more with Event Tokens. These tokens were earned from completing event quests, challenges on the Daily Taskboard, completing minigames, and playing /games. Event Tokens were able to be exchanged for Gold as well.
