Overview

An old woman in the town tells you of a powerful monster called Irgoll that takes a member of the town to its lair every year. Each year, the townsfolk decide who to leave for the creature, and this year it is this old woman. She asks you to defeat the monster before it leaves its lair.

Quest Progression

To begin this quest, speak to the Old Woman NPC in Ireland, who is outside of her home.

Dialogue

Before accepting

  • [1/5] This is terrible! The town has decided to have me be the next sacrifice for Irgoll!
  • [2/5] You haven't heard of Irgoll? It's a powerful monster that lives in its lair just beyond the mountains.
  • [3/5] It has cursed the town and every year on the same night, it comes out and takes a human to its lair. The town has a tradition of choosing who to sacrifice and this year it's me!
  • [4/5] I don't want to die! Please help! Currently, Irgoll is asleep in its lair, so you could defeat the monster before it comes for me.
  • [5/5] What do you say?

After accepting

  • [1/3] When she was younger, my grandmother told me the stories of the Four Treasures of the Tuatha Dé Danann.
  • [2/3] One of these treasures was the Angren Sword. Those with the sword are undefeatable and cannot lose in battle.
  • [3/3] I suggest that you go to the local Blacksmith and ask him to forge it. He's the only one in this town who can do that.

Objective 1 - Ask the Blacksmith for Help

Description

Talk to the local Blacksmith and ask him to forge the Angren Sword for you.

Dialogue

  • [1/2] The Angren Sword? I remember hearing of such a tale, but it's nothing but a story and no such sword exists.
  • [2/2] You need Angren steel for this sword, but no such thing exists. The Irish folktales mention an Undead Dagda residing in a small hut in the north that wields an Angren Axe, but no such hut has been found, so therefore it doesn't exist.

Objective 2 - Seek the Dagda's Angren Axe

Description

The Irish folktales mention an Undead Dagda residing in a small hut in the north that wields an Angren Axe. Go to its hut and get [1 Angren Axe] to convince the Blacksmith.

Dialogue

  • [1/3] That's the Angren Axe! How is that possible? It's just a made up axe from an old tale.
  • [2/3] Alright, I'll help you make this sword. While I smelt the blade of this axe, you should get a special type of gem for the hilt of the sword called the Opal Eye.
  • [3/3] The Opal Eye is an ancient gem that is said to have god-like powers. The best place to look for it would be the lighthouse's basement. All of the town's artefacts are kept safe there.

Objective 3 - Retrieve the Opal Eye

Description

While the Blacksmith smelts the axe, he tasks you with retrieving the Opal Eye that can be found in the basement of the town's lighthouse. Get [1 Opal Eye] and take it back to the Blacksmith.

Dialogue

  • [1/3] What happened to you? You look so drained. Nevermind that, you got the Opal Eye!
  • [2/3] The last thing we need is leather for the grip of the sword.
  • [3/3] The Leatherworker probably has something we can use for it.

Objective 4 - Speak to the Leatherworker

Description

Go to the Leatherworker and see if he has [1 Witherwood Elk Leather] remaining that you can have for the Angren Sword. Then talk to the Blacksmith.

Dialogue

Leatherworker

  • [1/3] It's you again! I remember you from when you wanted the magical Quabbleball glove!
  • [2/3] You need some leather? Well, I still have some leftover Witherwood Elk Leather from the last time.
  • [3/3] Since you originally got me that leather, I don't mind giving it to you!

Blacksmith

  • [1/3] That was quick!
  • [2/3] Here's the Angren Steel that you need to make the sword you wanted.
  • [3/3] Place the steel, gem, and leather into the forge and we can make this bad boy!

Objective 5 - Forge the Angren Sword

Description

Using the [1 Angren Steel], [1 Opal Eye], and [1 Witherwood Elk Leather], forge the Angren Sword.

Dialogue

  • [1/2] Wow! The sword looks so nice.
  • [2/2] I have no idea where Irgoll's lair is though, so you might want to go and ask the Old Woman. She knows more about the town's history, so she probably has the answer you need.

Objective 6 - Go to the Old Woman

Description

Show the Old Woman the mystical Angren Sword and ask her if she knows where Irgoll's lair can be found.

Dialogue

  • [1/3] Is that the Angren Sword? It looks magnificent! Then off you go to kill Irgoll then!
  • [2/3] Oh, you need to know where the entrance of the lair is! If you follow the paths up the mountain, you'll eventually find a large odd stone on the other side. Use the sword to reveal the entrance to the lair.
  • [3/3] Now don't just stand there! Go on!

Objective 7 - Defeat Irgoll

Description

Go to the odd stone outside the mountains that signifies the entrance of Irgoll's lair. Enter the lair and slay the monster.

Objective 8 - Tell the Old Woman of Your Victory

Description

Take Irgoll's club to show the Old Woman that you have slain Irgoll and saved her.

Dialogue

  • [1/3] Back so soon. Did you manage to kill Irgoll? How can I believe you?
  • [2/3] Irgoll's Club! I can't believe you did it.
  • [3/3] Thank you so much for saving my life and breaking the town's curse. Here's a reward for what you've done.

Tips

  • When trying to kill Irgoll, try hitting for the middle of the monster with the sword. That is where its hitbox is, and you will deal the most damage there!
  • Wrath of Irgoll is part of a questline! You can not start this quest until you complete The Big Game.
