Akeros

Overview
Located within the Dark Forest, Akeros the Centaur can be found atop a pile of rocks near one of the winding paths in the forest. Always willing to help lost travellers find their way, he is one of the friendliest faces one can meet in the forest despite being equipped with a bow and quiver.
Though there have been many rumours surrounding the Centaur, no one knows his true backstory. Some believe that plagues wiped out his entire family, or that he abandoned his herd, or even that he was exiled. Despite the persistent rumours, Akeros has declined to confirm or deny any of them.
What is certain is that he created his current herd while he was in his early 40s. At the time, the herd was a group of unruly, young Centaurs and Akeros took them under his wing. He spent his time teaching them the dangers of the forest, how to navigate it safely, and how to keep themselves safe. Under his care, the herd grew from seven to just over sixteen Centaurs.
Even under Akeros’ teaching, the group has remained hostile to witches and wizards. This is why, despite the care he has for his herd, he almost always stands separated from them. Keeping his distance allows him to help wandering travellers without endangering them.
Players meet Akeros in Year 7 during the Tainted Blood quest where he directs them to Ayla. Students return to him during the Reading the Stars quest as graduates, where they need to deliver him a letter. During this quest, players also help the friendly Centaur complete a divination ritual before moving on.
