Overview

Levelling is an important aspect of the server. By levelling up through gaining experience, or XP, players can unlock additional gameplay content such as new spells and more quests. Players are also able to craft high-tier Profession items, as well as be eligible to apply for certain staff positions.

The minimum level is Level 1 with 1 experience, and the maximum level is Level 80 with 217934026 experience. A player’s level indicates what academic year they are as a Hogsworth student. Every tenth level is equivalent to one school year. For example, Level 10 is Year 1 and Level 11 is Year 2. There are eight years in total: Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6, Year 7, and Graduate. After reaching Year 7, a player will be considered a Graduate. Upon graduating a year, there will be a broadcasted message in the in-game global chat.

There are several different activities a player can do to gain experience and level up. These include completing Daily Activities and quests—including event quests, converting Academic Credits and Arena Tokens, killing mobs, and working on Professions.

Daily Activities

Daily Activities in /me, when completed and claimed, can reward a small, modest, or large amount of experience. There is also the Daily Reward, which provides a gift of experience if the player is not Level 80. The specific amount scales to the player’s level.

Quests and Events

Quests, including Daily Riddles, and event quests reward experience upon their completion. The specific amount depends on the quest’s level. Completing all available quests in a year or years prior does not guarantee levelling up to the next year. Side quests do not reward experience.

Academic Credits & Arena Tokens

10 Academics Credits, also known as ACs, can be converted to experience at the Credit Trader in the Trophy Room or the /me menu.  10 Arena Tokens, or ATs, can also be converted to experience at the same rate as Academic Credits at the Arena Tokens Shop NPC at the Duelling Halls. 10 Academic Credits are easier to earn than 10 Arena Tokens. For classes, 10 ACs is the standard amount and, for challenges or tournaments, 5 ATs is awarded for participation.

The specific amount scales to the player’s level. However, this amount is more significant than the amount gained from Daily Activities, mobs, and Professions.

Mobs

Mobs found around the world map provide some experience when killed. The specific amount is dependent on the player’s level. Generally, to maximise the amount of experience gained, it is best to kill mobs that are three levels above your player level. However, note that there are not enough mobs for all levels to have an ideal mob to kill.

Professions

Professions provide more ways to gain a small amount of experience. Currently, only potions brewing and confectionary cooking provide experience upon completion, where the specific amount depends on the crafted item’s level.

Tips

  • Besides quests, the most popular way to level up is by attending the live, in-game classes hosted by the Academics Team.
  • The second most popular way is farming mob kills.
