To The Other World 2022

Overview

To The Other World was an event to celebrate Halloween in 2022. Lasting from October 8th to November 5th, 2022, players got the chance to explore the Pynk Manor Apartments in Ashland, Oregon.

Storyline

With Coralyn’s friends missing, the player needed to navigate the Other World to get to the bottom of what was going on. The player needed to outwit the Other Mother while helping the residents of the Pynk Manor Apartments along the way.

Location

Taking place in Ashland, Oregon, the event centred around the Pynk Manor Apartments building, both in the normal world and the Other World. In the normal world, the area was dark and the building looked decrepit. Once passing through to the Other World, however, the building and surrounding area were bright and full of life. The garden was no longer dead and the Pynk Manor Apartments looked like an appealing place to live. However, in the Other World, there were occasional hints that not everything was as perfect as it seemed.

Quests

There were four quests made available to players via the quest book. These quests all rewarded the player with Boo Bucks, which could then be used to purchase collectables.

Otherworldly Adventures

In the Great Hall, Kevin explained that his friend Coralyn Jenkins had recently moved to the Pynk Manor Apartments. Three of Coralyn’s friends had gone missing due to a strange incident and she needed help figuring out what happened. The last place any of her friends, Adelaide, Trevor, and Edward, were seen was the Pynk Manor Apartments. The player had to talk to three of the apartment’s residents and find out that incidents happened fairly frequently. The residents revealed that the player should talk to the Cat. In order to do so, the player needed to parkour up to the roof of the building. The Cat directed the player to a door to the Otherworld, a world that the Belldem created to lure and capture children. Eventually, the player managed to find the three friends with the help of some items the Cat gave. Unfortunately, Wibie, another resident of the building, has also gone missing.

Forget-Me-Not

Iris’ father had been acting strange ever since he drank an odd tea and she believed it was due to the flowers he had recently bought. The local witch, Amina, directed the player to the Amulet of Sight and had the player drink some tea. Then, the player had to defeat Amina in a duel, and it was revealed that she was also under the influence of the flowers.

Little Nightmares

One of the newer residents, Gwenneth, had been hearing scary noises at night in her apartment. Since she had been losing sleep, she needed the player to investigate and put a stop to the noises. Later that night, there was a loud crash, and when the player got up to investigate, the Other Mother appeared after the player fell through the mirror. The Other Mother forced the player to find three dolls hidden in three games to escape the mirror.

No Wibie to be Found

Wibie’s Dad let the player know that Wibie had gone missing during his quest to find the missing students. After looking around the house for clues, the player was able to open the tunnel to the Other World where they needed to complete an elytra course. Once finishing the course, the player was able to explore the Other World, eventually stumbling upon a locked door. With the key, the locked door led the player to a Memory Walker that shows them a memory of Belldem’s son, revealing his grave. While watching the memory play out, the Other Mother pulled the player out of the memory, where they would have to fight her. After defeating the Other Mother, Wibie was freed from his cage and able to return to his father.

Side Quests

There were two side quests for this event that could be played every 12 hours.

Tricky Creepy Cat

The gardener of the Pynk Manor Apartments, Garret, had troubles falling asleep and getting trapped inside his dreams by the Cat. In order to free him, players needed to use the Garden map to find clues around the Garden Maze to get rid of the Cat.

Missing Mice

Mr. Bowbinski continuously had problems with his mice disappearing, which was an issue with his big circus show coming up. Each day, the player needed to help Mr. Bowbinski find three mice around the area, while they were a mouse themselves.

Activities

Memento Mori

For this activity, players were able to access The Void of Mathilda Jenkin’s Soul Well that she used to keep her immortal. Per turn, players had three chances to find a soul in the well by selecting a Void icon in a GUI. To complete the activity and receive the reward, players needed to collect 100 souls and give them to Mathilda.

Minigames

There were five different minigames that players could access through an NPC in the event. Each of these games gave players Boo Bucks, which they could then trade for rewards.

Contests

The Halloween Script Writing Competition ran from September 30th to October 18th. Submissions needed to be spooky stories and under 1500 words. After the winners were announced on October 30th, the winner’s story was turned into a reel and released on the Potterworld social media platforms.

The annual PW-Tober prompts were officially released on September 30th and ran concurrently with a raffle on the Art Discord. To participate in the raffles, players would put their submissions each day on the Art Discord, with each submission counting as one entry. The winner, announced on November 1st, was able to choose their prize, either the Pet Ghost or the Devil’s Pitchfork wand appearance.

Rewards & Collectables

There were a variety of different event rewards that players were able to obtain throughout the To The Other World event.

Players could purchase Cosmetic Spells, Scarves, Banners, Heads, or Miscellaneous items with Boo Bucks. These tokens were earned by participating in /games, the seasonal minigames, and completing the quests.

During the event, the Eerie Store Releases were released by the Store Team. The new items included:
