Overview

Horned Snakes are Level 63, aggressive mobs on Potterworld. The many varied appearances of this legless beast are largely thought to be a direct result of their climate and environment. While Horned Snakes can live in several different environments, when they are introduced into a new biome, they shift colour in order to better suit their hunting needs, such as the dirt-toned desert Horned Snakes and the green forest-dwelling Horned Snakes. These different tones assist them in camouflaging themselves should a predator (human or otherwise) choose to take chase.

Usually, when they are born, they have scales the colour of the midnight sky. As they grow, they develop two sharp horns, the same colours as their scales. Lastly, they are adorned with a jewel on their forehead as they mature and change colours. Some believe that this gem grants them magical powers! Despite their innate beauty, the Horned Snake is still a dangerous, venomous creature. Many players run into their venom at least once, most notably during the Electric Curation quest.

Behaviour and Defence

Horned Snakes came close to extinction in western Europe thanks to the excessive hunting of witches and wizards looking for potion ingredients, or to use their shaved horns as a wand core. Although they are most commonly known for their beauty and the ways their bodies can be used for various sorts of magical crafting, their venom is nothing to be trifled with. When they feel threatened, Horned Snakes are able to travel at 10 m/s, and their bite alone deals 575 damage. When their venom is added to the equation, they deal 862 damage. The dedicated 6th and 7th-year witches and wizards who seek to use their drops for potions ought to come prepared, as it will take them a while to whittle down their 2875 HP. Having good gear is extremely helpful when fighting and trying to defeat these creatures.

Habitat

Cyrus Blythe, one of the most famous scientific studiers of Horned Snakes, discovered that the species is native to North America, where they are well-known magical reptiles thanks to their shrewd demeanours. The magical beasts are known to inhabit bodies of water such as streams, rivers, ponds, and lakes where they can wet their scales and hide in the murky depths of the waters. Due to this, they are rarely found in deep oceans or seas because they prefer the shallows, where hunting and hiding are easy. Wherever the Horned Snakes can be found, so can Asphodel Lvl. 60 plant nodes, which always sprout nearby these venomous water-dwellers. For the time being, Horned Snakes seem to be making a return to Western Europe now that there are more hunting laws in place to preserve their species, but a full recovery is not ensured without the cooperation of beast-hunters. Outside of Europe, North America is the only continent that maintains a relatively large and diverse population of Horned Snakes.

Defeat

Upon defeat, Horned Snakes have a chance of dropping Gold Footholds, Rowan Handle, Cotton Handlewraps, and Twig Bristles, as well as Horned Snake Venom, Horned Snake Skin, and Horned Snake Eggs. These ingredients can be used in professions items like the Dark Cocoacursed Delights VII, Puffing Pod Tea VII, Cursed Brew VII, and Piercing Potion I, and crafting brooms. Horned Snakes also have a small chance of dropping random Lvl 61-70 Gear Pieces and Broom Recipes.
