Overview

On the 21st of September, in February of 1962, a 23-year-old witch by the name of Georgianna Moranne improperly impersonated an Unmagical by the name of Paul McCartney, a member of the world-famous rock band known as "The Beatles". Ms. Moranne pulled hairs off the Unmagical at a concert she attended and used them in the Transmogrification Potion she kept in a flask. Sneaking into the bathrooms, Ms. Moranne drank the potion and wandered around the auditorium posing as Mr. McCartney. The Ministry of Magicians were notified immediately by hidden Auralocks in the area who had noticed the two different McCartneys and apprehended Ms. Moranne. The Ministry then sent a large group from the Oblivius Association to handle the situation, since multiple Unmagicals were curious of how Mr. McCartney was walking around the auditorium and also performing. Ms. Moranne was taken into Auralock custody, and the trial date was set for the following week.

Verdict

Guilty of improperly impersonating an Unmagical, misuse of the Transmogrification Potion, use of magic in front of Unmagicals. Sentenced to ten months in The Dark Prison.

Trial Details

Ms. Moranne’s trial was a bench trial, a trial where the judge hears all the evidence and makes the verdict. During the trial’s opening statements, the Ministry’s lawyers called Ms. Moranne “obsessed and unhinged” and demanded the judge sentence her to life in prison, saying that she could have seriously risked the secrecy of the wizarding world and damaged Mr. McCartney’s reputation. Ms. Moranne’s lawyers disagreed, and said she was a young girl who felt ignored by those at home, and that she wanted to be a beloved rock star for a day. Judge Julianne Dear was the head of this trial, and truly the star of it. A so-called lover of the band and passionate about magical-Unmagical relations, she wasted no time in sentencing Moranne. Because of Moranne’s guilty plea, she was quickly given the maximum sentence for the crimes committed. Moranne gave one last statement after her sentencing to the Daily Diviner before being dragged off to the Dark Prison: “I apologise to the Ministry and everyone involved. I just wanted to experience the life of a rock star...”.
