Overview

The Auralocks are the law-enforcing department of the Ministry of Magicians that are strict in maintaining the laws and power of the Ministry. The Auralocks have a long, complicated history with the other allegiances and with the public. Though attempting to enforce the law, they can occasionally commit acts that receive backlash from the magical community. The Chief Auralock, currently Rani Lightwood, is the one responsible for running the Auralocks and making sure they abide by the standards set by the Ministry.

Roleplay Storyline

Below is the current roleplay storyline following the events with the Auralocks.

Chapter 1

On December 13th, 2019, it was announced in the Daily Diviner that Lauren Strudel had been appointed to the office of Chief Auralock. In a speech at her appointment, Strudel outlined a few initiatives that she had to keep witches and wizards in Britain safe. These included accepting more recruits, therefore making the reach of the Auralocks stronger, and less leniency for law-breakers. Her initiatives were taken by many to mean that the Auralocks would be more easily able to abuse their power.

This caused many people to speak out against Strudel, and this dissent culminated in her assassination just a month after she had taken office. The Auralocks were quick to round up anybody who they suspected may have been involved in the removal of their leader. One of the most prominent suspects was Aviforma, someone who had been loud in the protests against the former Chief Auralock.

Aviforma was detained on three different accounts: causing public disorder, conspiring against the Ministry, and assassinating Strudel. After Aviforma was detained, there was public support for him, especially surrounding his belief that Lauren Strudel was unjustly appointed as Chief Auralock.

At Aviforma’s trial on February 15th, 2020, he was officially cleared of the first two charges against him, but the Dark Followers interrupted the trial before a conclusion could be reached. The Dark Followers then gave a speech that accused the Auralocks of rigging the vote of the trial and attempted to expose the corruption within the Auralocks. A couple of months after the trial, in April of 2020, the Auralock Manor in Hogsend was attacked by the Dark Followers. The Dark Lord’s inner circle launched this attack in an attempt to uncover any documents that could prove the corruption they believed was present within the Auralock ranks. Before the Dark Followers could finish searching the Manor, the Auralocks arrived and were able to capture Noah Pendragon, one of Dark Lord Joel Crestello’s lieutenants. In May of 2020, officials met in the Ministry to discuss what to do after the Dark Lord election. Due to the high threat of an attack by the Dark Followers, most officials wanted to push back, or even attack, the Dark Followers. Before they could come to a decision, the Phoenixes interrupted them to announce their support for the Auralocks, along with informing the world of the new Lord of the Phoenixes, Joshua Pendragon. The Ministry rejected their support when suspicions were cast on the Phoenixes as Noah Pendragon was broken out. The meeting ended with Shakti calling for Operation 83-C to commence and Joshua Pendragon being imprisoned.

The operation occurred in May of 2020 and resulted in the Auralocks attacking both the Phoenix and Dark Follower bases. Both bases ended up being destroyed and there were many casualties on all sides, though both the Dark Follower and Phoenixes’ inner circles remained intact. After the operation, the Phoenixes were able to retrieve Joshua Pendragon from the Auralocks’ prison.

The next month, the Ministry was attacked by the Dark Followers and the Phoenixes, who had made an alliance after the Auralocks destroyed their bases. Their goal was to take down the corrupt Shakti Bhardwaj, but she escaped the first time they attempted to capture her. Working together, the Dark Followers and the Phoenixes eventually found Shakti, but disagreed on how to proceed. The Lord of the Phoenixes believed that she should be arrested while the Dark Lord wanted Shakti killed. Not listening to the Phoenixes, the Dark Lord cast Mortiavra on Shakti, killing her and ending the alliance between the Dark Followers and the Phoenixes. On June 30th, 2020, the Daily Diviner revealed that Matt Griffiths was appointed the new Chief Auralock. In his appointment speech, he blamed the corruption of the Ministry on Shakti and that the actions taken previously were not on behalf of the Auralocks. Griffiths' appointment marked a new era of the Auralocks, attempting to make up for their actions in the past.

Chapter 2

In August of 2020, the Auralock’s Redemption event reopened the Auralock Base and saw the new Chief Auralock opening up about his past as a way to gain the trust of the public. This was also seen at the end of the month during the Werewolf Rights Rally where the Auralocks attempted to discuss equality with the Werewolves. At the rally, the Auralocks heard the issues the Werewolves brought up and decided on implementing three new measures to help attain this equality. These included self-defence laws that minimize the amount of situations Werewolves could legally be killed in, further access to the Wolfsbane Potion, and Werewolves finally be classified as humans.

At the end of the rally, the Werewolves gave the Chief Auralock a special gift that would prove to be able to cure both lycanthropy and vampirism. In October of 2020, the gift was stolen from the Auralocks by the Vampires, which led to the Vampire vs. Werewolf War

On November 20th of 2020, the Auralocks were alerted that there was an explosion in Diagonal Lane, which was discovered to be the Lorekeeper’s Compendium. Though there was little evidence, the Auralocks believed that the Dark Followers were the culprits, but the lack of evidence led to nothing being officially confirmed.

The Dark Lord Joel Crestello was revealed to have gone missing in a Daily Diviner article from November 27th, 2020. The Auralocks were investigating his disappearance that occurred on the evening of November 20th. Despite being on opposite sides of multiple conflicts, the Auralocks still felt it was their duty to find him, as he was still a member of the British wizarding society. Soon enough, the Auralocks found Crestello and uncovered that he had been tortured. Afterwards, an Auralock spy revealed that Crestello had been overthrown by a coup.

On December 4th, 2020, the Phoenixes arranged a meeting with the Auralocks after the situation with Crestello occurred. The Deputy Auralock, Rani Lightwood, met up with Lord of the Phoenixes Joshua Pendragon and the Embersage Arabella Pendragon where the Phoenixes requested information regarding Shakti. In return, the Phoenixes agreed to form an alliance with the Auralocks against the Dark Followers.

March 7th, 2021 saw a bounty being placed on the Dark Hand, Noah Pendragon, Henry Chimera, and Sara Selwyn, by Chief Auralock Matt Griffiths. The large bounty of 100,000 Gold would be given to anyone who managed to capture them alive. Griffiths placed this bounty on them in retaliation for the violence committed on the wizarding community, specifically against the Phoenixes.

This led to the Skirmish at Longbay Landing, due to Henry Chimera and Sara Selwyn being kidnapped and held in Longbay Landing. A letter was sent to the Daily Diviner revealing their location and said that the two were being offered up to whoever arrived first. This caused the Dark Followers, Phoenixes, Auralocks, Werewolves, and Vampires to all go to the town seeking the two captured Dark Followers. Soon after their arrival, Arabella figured out that a potion in the town could lead to an explosion, forcing all of the factions to work together.

Auralock Base

The Auralock’s base is located inside the Ministry of Magicians. It mainly consists of a long, circular hallway with blue carpet that has rooms shooting off from the main hallway. The majority of the rooms are used to run the Auralocks or in their day-to-day operations. There is a duelling and training room that allows the Auralocks to stay in top shape and to practice their duelling abilities. Additionally, there is a meeting room for Auralocks and other Ministry officials to meet in. Most notably, the Chief of Auralocks office is accessed in the base, along with a library across from it. In the office, the Chief Auralock can be seen, along with her most trusted Auralock, Casara Griffiths. The Auralock base can be accessed through the Roleplay Hub at the Auralock Base NPC.
