Pride Festival 2021

Overview

For the 2021 Pride event, which lasted from June 5th to July 1st, 2021, players were able to celebrate pride in Diagonal Lane’s Pride Festival in a redecorated Diagonal Lane and Carket Market. Additionally, exclusive rewards were available for purchase. This event featured the release of an all-new cosmetic wand appearance.

Storyline

In 2021, LGBTQ+ wizards from across the world gathered at Diagonal Lane and Carket Market for a Pride Festival. Students helped prepare for the big parade and retrieved components to create a colourful Pride Staff.

Location

The main event hub was a different version of Diagonal Lane and Carket Market, London. To get there, players had to talk to the Pride Festival NPC just outside the Great Hall at Hogsworth. From there, players could check out the colourful rainbow decorations, take photos at the various photo booths, and check out the Pride Parade floats.

Quests

Floral Arrangements

To start, players talked to Alex atop a parade float with coloured letters. Alex asked for assistance in putting the finishing touches on the float’s letters by gathering enough coloured flowers. Players then used the Flower Guide book to search around and obtain five of each different type of flower. Red flowers were obtained from defeating the local Fairy mobs guarding a small garden in Carket Market. Orange flowers were retrieved from completing a magical parkour course in the Wacky Wizarding Wonders Joke Shop. Yellow flowers were received after getting a jump on them via completing a short elytra course. Green flowers were obtained from defeating the local Bowleaf mobs in their garden on the west side of Carket Market. Blue flowers were provided after assisting the Baker in making Pride cupcakes. Purple flowers were retrieved from answering Pride-related trivia questions near the bank. After collecting five of a flower, the player then placed them on the corresponding coloured letters of the float to decorate it. Upon completing this quest, the player was rewarded with 75 Pride Tokens.

The Perfect Proposal

To start, players talked to Allie just outside Boundless Books in Diagonal Lane. Allie requested help in preparing the perfect proposal to her girlfriend Olivia. Players then had to obtain a bouquet of flowers that Allie ordered from a florist in Carket Market. Unfortunately, the florist was behind on orders and needed help in crafting a bouquet first. Afterwards, depending on the bouquet that Allie specified, players could have selected between four different bouquets: a Red Rose Bouquet, a Red Tulip Bouquet, a Yellow Daffodil Bouquet, and a Yellow Buttercup Bouquet. Next, players had to retrieve an order of special fireworks from Dr. Filibuster’s storeroom in Filibuster’s Fireworks along the east side of Carket Market. Lastly, players had to talk to Allie’s friend, John, outside of Grimlott’s Bank to obtain a ring. However, he accidentally misplaced it and players then needed to use the tracking spell on John’s Wand and find the ring. Then, players were invited to watch the proposal. Upon completing this quest, the player was rewarded with 75 Pride Tokens.

Rainbow Road

To start, players talked to Candela under a brick inlet for Diagonal Lane Fire Dust. Candela needed help in learning what each colour signifies to make a Pride Sculpture. Players then had to explore the Pride Parade and locate each coloured node to discover what its meaning was by using the Magnifying Glass. There were 11 colours to be found: Brown, Black, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Baby Blue, White, and Baby Pink. After locating all colours, the Essence of Unity was able to be crafted. Then, by using the Essence of Unity and a Blank Sculpture on the art table, a Pride Sculpture was made. Upon completing this quest, the player was rewarded with 75 Pride Tokens.

Side Quests

Decorator’s Assistant

To start, players talked to Sam atop one of the parade floats. Sam requested help in shifting four flags, which have gotten dishevelled from the strong wings. Players then needed to traverse around Diagonal Lane and Carket Market and fix the flags back into place. Upon completing this quest, the player was rewarded with 25 Pride Tokens. This quest could be completed once every 12 hours.

Activities

Pride Staff Building

To start, players talked to the Alchemist in one of the stalls in Carket Market. The Alchemist instructed players to first find the shaft materials hidden around the Rainbow Maze: four Shaft Components, a Box of Fairy Dust, and four Glass. After crafting the Shaft, players then were directed to Dionysus and had to solve a riddle in order to receive five Metal, which could be forged into a Crystal Setting. With the Shaft, Crystal Setting, and having completed all of the other quests, players could then craft the staff using the crafting table behind the Alchemist. Upon completing this activity, the player was rewarded with a Pride Staff cosmetic wand appearance.

Contests

There was one accompanying contest that was hosted alongside the event. On June 5th, 2021, the Pride 2021 Giveaway was announced. This required contestants to share a photo of celebrating the event at the Pride Event build. The winner was announced on June 14th, 2021.

Rewards & Collectables

There were a variety of different event items that players were able to obtain throughout the 2021 Pride event. 

By talking to the Rewards NPC in one of the stalls in the event build, players could purchase Banners, a Scarf, and miscellaneous collectables with Pride Tokens. These tokens were earned by participating in games from /games, or by completing any Pride Event quests. Additionally, Pride Tokens could be traded in for Gold at a 1 to 1 ratio. Some collectables were obtainable outside of the Rewards NPC as well. The Pride Staff was rewarded upon talking to the Alchemist NPC, retrieving all the needed components, and forging them all together. The Pride Cake, Rainbow Rose, and Pride Candy were obtained from consuming the Gift Bag collectable, which had the chance of dropping either item.
