Overview

Runespores are Level 74, aggressive mobs that currently resides in a low valley southeast of the town of Antrum. There is currently no quest that requires the player to defeat Runespores, however, their mob-exclusive drops can also be used to craft profession recipes.

Runespores are snake-like creatures with three heads sprouting from the base of their neck. The skin on the back of the Runespore is a murky orange, while their front side is a pale ash-yellow. On their spines, dark and bulky scales are lodged. There also are black stains throughout the creature’s body, leaving a faint square pattern on the beast. When in the presence of a Runespore, it is easy to become intimidated. The creature stands at 7 feet tall and is able to rapidly move toward its target.

Behaviour & Defence

Runespores are known for their rapid and varied dashes that allow them to stun their victims. They are able to devour their prey within seconds of being spotted, making a single mistake consequential when dealing with a Runespore. When a Runespore is out of sight, they will take the chance to take their target by surprise. They are best dealt with from a distance using projectiles and throwable weapons. One possible, but incredibly risky, way of fighting a Runespore is by climbing on their back and attempting to fight them close-range. This tactic rarely works out, however, if it must be performed, rapid close-range spells or stabbing with a melee weapon is the most effective form of attack.

With a total of 4350 HP, Runespores can be incredibly difficult to kill without gear that allows spells to do additional damage. Their melee attack deals 870 damage and they have three additional abilities: a swipe attack, a sprint attack, and a dash attack that will all deal 1305 damage. The Runespore’s swipe attack will come out in a white slash when the player is close to the Runespore. The sprint attack allows the Runespore to sprint a large area towards the player, the player should look out for black particles coming off in vertical lines from the creature to see when the Runespore will attack soon. When the Runespore dashes, it will quickly move towards its target and black particles will come from the ground where the Runespore stands.

Habitat

Runespores are found in a sandy valley southeast of Antrum. There is a river running through their habitat, along with rocky protrusions sticking out of the sand. The sand ranges from a light yellow colour to a darker red colour that is most often found along the river. By following the river to the east, the town of Rushmore is eventually happened upon. Additionally, Asphodel Lvl. 40 plant nodes can be found around the area.
