Potterworld’s 10th Anniversary 2024

Overview

Celebrating Potterworld’s 10th Anniversary and 10 years of classes, roleplay, quests, magic and more, this event was hosted from 18th May to 13th July 2024. Players journeyed to a total of seven magical schools and represented one school for the event’s duration. Through playing the event’s offerings and legacy content, students earned School Spirit towards their school in a school versus schools competition and gained exclusive rewards.

Storyline

There was no overarching storyline for the event.

Location

Kevin whisked away players from Hogsworth’s Great Hall to the Anniversary Hub, which served as the event’s central location. Here, a pavilion awaited, surrounded by water fountains and hot air balloons floating above. Vending NPCs and their stalls remained scattered about its perimeter. There were sectioned areas further outwards, each with miniaturised versions of seven magical schools: Hogsworth School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Beauxbois Academy of Magic, Castelomagia, Dormunstrad Institute of Magic, École du Monde Occulte, Mahounoshiro School of Magic, and Silvermorne Academy. Additionally, in one section sat a giant cake. Besides the Anniversary Hub, players explored the campuses of the aforementioned magical schools besides Hogsworth.

Quests

There were 10 quests for this event, all serving to introduce the seven magical schools and the School Spirit Competition. Upon completion, these rewarded Event Tokens, a large amount of experience, and a Choco Hop Box each.

Potterworld’s 10th Anniversary!

Kevin was very excited to join in on this year’s anniversary celebrations and invited players along. After ingesting a 10 Years of Magic Potion, the player was teleported to the Anniversary Hub where reward shops, minigames, and fast travel to other magical schools besides Hogsworth: Beauxbois, Castelomagia, Dormunstrad, École du Monde Occulte, Mahounoshiro, and Silvermorne. Headmaster Droobledore also welcomed the player and thanked them for being a part of the community. In front of the giant cake, the Minigames Hogsworth Student revealed a special set of minigames that would award special legacy rewards from past events. Afterwards, Kevin introduced the School Spirit competition activity.

Touring Beauxbois

A Beauxbois student offered players a tour of the magnificent Beauxbois Castle and gardens, both of which are pristine and manicured. Known for their excellent art and cosmetic accomplishments, the school featured stables that house noble Pegasi, a Hedge Maze, and a Dance Hall. Previously, Hogsworth students could experience Beauxbois dances in the Dance Hall during the Yule Ball 2015 and Winter Waltz 2018 events.

Touring Castelomagia

A Castelomagia student gave players a tour of the school grounds, showcasing the Aviary, Dining Hall, and Quabbleball Pitch. Previously, Hogsworth students helped rescue and care for Conucko bird eggs in the Aviary during the Winter Waltz in Brazil 2021 event.

Touring Dormunstrad

A Dormunstrad student provided players with a tour of Dormunstrad’s proud halls and mountain scenery in the harsh climate. Known for their impressive duelling skills and knowledge of the Dark Arts, the school also has many surrounding caves with treasures. Previously, Hogsworth students visited during the Yule Ball 2016, Winter Waltz 2019, and Potterworld’s 7th Anniversary 2021 events.

Touring École du Monde Occulte

A l’École du Monde Occulte student procured a tour of their school grounds for players. Known as one of the most exclusive wizarding schools, it is a tremendous honour to get accepted here. The school’s curriculum is rigorously designed for historians, evidently shown by the notable Historical Studies and Research Hall. Previously, Hogsworth students visited for the Winter Waltz in Togo 2023 event and delved into its history.

Touring Hogsworth

A fellow Hogsworth student conducted a quick tour of what was available at the event. A select number of event-specific areas within the castle were made accessible through Kevin.

Touring Mahounoshiro

A Mahounoshiro student presented players with a tour of Mahounoshiro, one of the oldest wizarding schools in the world, which rests atop a mountain. With a rigorous curriculum and Storm Petrels instead of owls, the school does not have separate houses but unique colour-changing robes that are enchanted to adjust to the changing weather. Previously, Hogsworth students visited the campus during the Winter Waltz at Mahounoshiro 2020 event and once more to celebrate the Cherry Blossom Festival during the Cherry Blossom Festivals at Mahounoshiro 2023 event.

Touring Silvermorne

A Silvermorne student granted players a tour of Silvermorne’s school grounds, notably the Dining Hall and the Herbology class greenhouse. Known for their connection to nature, the school required Herbology and Magical Creature Studies classes every year. Previously, Hogsworth students visited for the holidays and experienced a beautiful sorting ceremony during the Winter Waltz in Silvermorne 2022 event.

You Got Mail

After exploring all the available wizarding schools, Kevin introduced the School Spirit Competition. Mail then arrived in the player’s mailbox, prompting the player to join one of two schools to represent in the showdown.

Kitchen Training

Looking for a helping hand, Chef Ray offered players training on cooking, serving, and cleaning at the busy l’École du Monde Occulte Kitchen and Dining Hall. To cook, the chef instructed the player to collect ingredients for a salad. These were then put together at a kitchen prep station and put up for serving on a counter. To serve customers, the player took orders from ready customers in the Dining Hall, picked up the order from the appropriate counter, and gave it to the customer. To clean after customers’ messes, the player used a broom on the footprints left behind. This training taught the foundations of the Order Up! repeatable activity.

Side Quests

There were seven side quests, all repeatable every 12 hours. These rewarded Event Tokens, a Choco Hop Box, School Spirit, and a modest amount of experience.

Fashion Forward

At the Beauxbois Fashion Classroom, Chloe had been putting together different ensembles for her new clothing line and needed the player to help match the mannequin for a drawing. After gathering three pieces of clothing and handing them to Claude for three rounds, Chloe gave thanks for the help.

Gem Hunt

Dormunstrad students had been exploring the nearby caves, which are rich with enchanted gem shards for research and magic honing. Players helped Dormunstrad’s gemstone studies by joining in on the spelunking. Anton lent the player four enchanted tools needed to harvest gem shards: Gem Magnifier, Enchanted Pickaxe, Enchanted Shovel, and Gemstone Brush. When entering the caverns, the player had three minutes to use the tools and collect shards. There were five different cavern types available for exploration: Bunny Burrow, with purple and blue gem shards; Twisting Caverns, with purple and yellow gem shards; Deep Crystal Caves, with yellow and red gem shards; Enchanted Grotto, with red and green gem shards; and Starry Caves, with white and green gem shards. After collecting three shards of the same colour, the refiner was used to combine them into a full gemstone. These gemstones were then used to unlock the different caverns. Moreover, after trading in one full set of gems, a Jewel of PW Flare Launcher toy was available for redemption from the Gem Merchant. Purple gems included: Amethyst, Alexite, Tourmaline, and Tanzanite. Blue gems included: Turquoise, Azurite, Sapphire, Aquamarine, and Labradorite. Yellow gems included: Topaz, Citrine, Sunstone, and Tiger’s Eye. Red gems included: Ruby, Garnet, Jasper, and Agate. Green gems included: Emerald, Jade, Peridot, and Malachite. White gems included: Diamond, Moonstone, Opal, and Quartz.

Hey! Listen!

Atop Castelomagia, Alandra was annoyed by the sudden appearance of chaotic, noisy Fairies and needed players' help to scare them off. Using a borrowed broomstick, the player flew around and spooked as many as possible within one minute.

Imposter Spotter

By the Silvermorne campfire, Oliver put together a fun activity to test other students. Four items or creatures were conjured atop the stone benches nearby, and players needed to spot as many ‘odd ones out’ within one minute.

Just Dance

Within the Beauxbois Dance Hall, Louis awaited new dancers to join him on the dance floor. For one minute, players danced upon as many coloured tiles that Louis called out. There were Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple tiled sections.

Lighting the Skies

Near a Mahounoshiro park bench, Etsuko had been making fireworks for the celebrations. Players could construct their own firework, choosing between a star or ball shape and up to two of five colours. There were 30 different combinations of fireworks available to craft.

Where’s Wendy

Just outside Silvermore’s gate, Wendy wanted to play her favourite game. Within two minutes, players needed to find Wendy as much as possible amongst the other masked students scattered about the forest.

Activities

Daily AC

Players were able to unlock a new riddle each day for 40 days. These riddles were themed in remembrance of Potterworld's past Academic Credits (AC) daily riddles. Each solved riddle rewarded Event Tokens, a modest amount of experience, a Choco Hop Box, School Spirit, and Academic Credits. Upon finding Lil' Droobs at all 40 riddle locations within the event, the Bag of ACs collectable beaded handbag was available for redemption at the Exclusives shop.

Order Up!

To start this group-oriented activity, a player initiated a dinner rush using the menu board just outside the École du Monde Occulte kitchen. Players then had five minutes to contribute to a group score by cooking, serving, and cleaning after as many customers as possible. Making food earned five points, serving food earned three points, serving sweets earned two points, and cleaning earned one point. The more points gathered as a group, the more rewards granted at the rush’s end. Another dinner rush could start 30 minutes thereafter. Possible orders included: Salad from Grapes, Carrot, Melon; Cake from Sprinkles, Frosting, Cake Batter; Veggie Soup from Potato, Beetroot, Mushroom; Butterbrew from the barrels on the counter; and Cookie and Jellybeans from the cart just outside the kitchen.

Minigames

At the Anniversary Hub, student NPCs from each of the magical schools offered themed minigames. All, as well as the minigames from /games, rewarded Event Tokens. Moreover, completing a select few also unlocked some exclusives for redemption. The Amor Vita Parkour unlocked the Amor Vita spell, the Cannon Ball Elytra unlocked the Flame Breath spell, the Rainbow Maze unlocked a Juggling Balls collectable, the Mirror Maze unlocked a Carnival Banner, the Magical Maze unlocked the Pericumaze spell, and the Survival Tactics Parkour unlocked the Remembering Survival spell.
